I think it's premiering in the UK in Manchester early next year (2020). I remember seeing some ads on the telly recently for it. I'll probably go see it during it's run (I think it's a lengthy one...Feb to June or some such).
Alan Silvestri was on Mark Forrest's show on Scala Radio yesterday talking about the show opening in the West End. You can listen to the full interview on catch up on their app...
Yeah, I was all set to see it in Manchester just before the world went to sh!t. Got a full refund after they said it would be restarting down the smoke. Manchester was a much easier option for me, as it's practically next door and way cheaper. I'll probably go see it in London at some point, but don't know when. Our lad did see it in Manc' on its opening night and said he enjoyed it (and he generally dislikes theatre and musicals).
I'm definitely going to take a trip down to see it again at some point. I saw it during previews in Manchester and it was really great. They had a few problems to iron out, (as with any show on this scale) and I'd love to experience it again. And this is coming from someone who generally doesn't care for musical theatre. The way they handled the clocktower sequence was staggering.
I also had the pleasure of performing at the opening night press launch, where I got to meet Alan Silvestri. So, naturally, we're probably best friends now and he'll be wondering how I am. So it would be rude not to go
Doc: Great scott Marty we're now live on stage! Marty: This is heavy! Great seeing this on October 21st 2021 - cannot wait maybe I could time travel forward...
Listened to the Overture on Spotify and had to turn it off because of awful, bloated, incoherent sound.
Same.
That track does sound pretty bad - performance/acoustics or recording, not sure - but the rest is great, including the Clocktower cue which is mixed pretty faithfully to the original.
