What's hilarious is that for each Rambo film, JG wrote amazing end credits music only to have them replaced with songs. You'd think after the second film, he'd have just not bothered.

What's hilarious is that for each Rambo film, JG wrote amazing end credits music only to have them replaced with songs. You'd think after the second film, he'd have just not bothered. You'd think at that point, someone would tell Jerry, "Don't bother writing one because we're not going to use it and don't want to pay for recording it." Thank *goodness* that never happened though, because while his Rambo: First Blood Part II end credits are superb (even in poor sound), his Rambo III end credits are truly amazing and one of the greatest works of music to come out of the entire franchise! I'll never understand why they pay a composer to write music for their film and then just chuck it out the window in favor of a pop song. Rambo III is one of my favorite Goldsmith scores. I think it depends on the movie. As great as Bernstein's score is for Ghostbusters, I think the songs work better in the places where they substituted them for the score. I gotta agree, the songs were perfectly chosen and placed. I honestly didn't enjoy the score very much and sold off the Varese CD. One of the few times I actually prefer the Songtrack album.

In my personal opinion, I think the un-used end Credits cue works wonderfully! It should have ben kept. I gotta agree, the songs were perfectly chosen and placed. I honestly didn't enjoy the score very much and sold off the Varese CD. One of the few times I actually prefer the Songtrack album.
I agree, for the most part, though I think the end of "Get Her" would have worked in the film. I think The Mutant should do a score restore for all the un-used cues*. I remember seeing one or two on Youtube (I don't recall if it was him) years and years ago. * = "We Got One!" won't work though; part of the scene has been edited out of the film (still not leaked yet) and you can see the bad crossfade edit in the film, so the cue won't fit.

While I don't quite go for the upbeat bit in the Rambo II credits, this is one where I just don't get how they didn't use this - it is bloody perfect! Makes the movie look good.
