La-La Land Records and Universal Studios proudly present the fifth title in the acclaimed Universal Pictures Film Music Heritage Collection -- the world premiere official release of the original motion picture score to the big-screen 1989 comedy sequel, FLETCH LIVES, starring Chevy Chase, Hal Holbrook and Julianne Phillips, and directed by Michael Ritchie. Famed composer Harold Faltermeyer (BEVERLY HILLS COP, TOP GUN, FLETCH) returns to the comedy/mystery world and its iconic lead character established in the 1985 smash-hit original, FLETCH. Never before officially available in any format, Faltermeyer’s engaging and infectious electronic score revisits his famous FLETCH motifs, while spinning and enriching them in expert ways that heighten the film’s action, suspense and comedy. This presentation includes additional source cues, (with Faltermeyer clearly having fun with his Televangelist TV cues), plus a bonus track - the end creole/rock-flavored credits song “Make A Change,” by Buckwheat Zyedco. Produced and mastered by Mike Matessino from studio vault elements, this special release is limited to 3000 units, and includes exclusive, in-depth liner notes by writer Daniel Schweiger, with new interview comments from the composer. La-La Land Records, Universal Music Special Markets, Universal Studios, Amblin Entertainment and Geffen proudly present SCHINDLER’S LIST – 25th ANNIVERSARY SOUNDTRACK, a 2-CD remastered re-issue of legendary composer John Williams’ (JAWS, E.T., JURASSIC PARK) Oscar-Winning original motion picture score to the 1993 Best Picture, SCHINDLER’S LIST, starring Liam Neeson, Ben Kingsley, Ralph Fiennes, Caroline Goodall, and Jonathan Sagall, and directed by Steven Spielberg.

Already received Fletch here in MA! Crazy fast service! Can’t wait to spin it!

Edit- after a first listen it is a dream come true waiting for Fletch music after all these years... more score then I expected too. Feared the sequel only had about 15 minutes worth but it’s double that. The sneaking around and chase music is fantastic. Doesn’t get much better then this for this 80s fan.

I have ill will toward Fletch Lives because they didn't use one of the books for the story (yes, not all the books are good, I know). I haven't seen the movie in years to know if the score is just retreads from the first score or what (welcome retreads, due to the first one not having a score album).

I have ill will toward Fletch Lives

Not to mention it was horribly short of actual funny stuff. I remember one UK critic said it wasn't so much "laugh-a-minute" than "laugh-an-hour."

Also, maybe people are waiting patiently for the score for another not very funny sequel starring a SNL alumnus which came out the same year....

I haven’t read the books... kind of looking for a new series to tear into. Are the books as humerous as Chase made the character or did Chevy make Fletch his own? With so many books it is curious why they didn’t go with one. The music though is why we’re here really. Great stuff seeing as we don’t have the original yet. Have to say though the first 10 minutes of LIVES is equally as funny as the original. Up until the film goes south, literally.

The character is hilarious as written, but Chase fits the role so well, despite not matching the physical description of the book Fletch.

Can't wait to order Fletch Lives! The Fletch Lives theme was great and just oozes '80s.

I have to say it's bittersweet that we have the sequel's score but not the original's still. I love both Fletch movies, but the first Fletch is definitely a lot better in every respect, including the score. Hopefully we get the full score for the first movie someday.

As great as this release is, I'm just a bit disappointed that the "Song of the South" doesn't seem to be on here. The absence is strange, especially considering the fact that the song played a prominent role in the film and was sung by Chevy Chase himself. Anyone know why it was left off?

Well, we DO have 15 minutes or so of the original. It's not like it's completely unreleased.

Finally watching FLETCH 2 - the Song of the South guy, above & all over these threads.
Really?
Do you know its 2019 & things are VERY different??
I'm sure either Faltermeyer or a Universal exec got the request and quickly issued a Hell No! to its inclusion.

Political incorrectness- its...well I cant comment here further. Go watch Hot Shots Part Deux for even more no fly 2019 antics (and a great missing tons from Varese CD Poledouris score).

In this case, the political issues concerning the song are irrelevant. It is owned by the Walt Disney Company and it would have been impossible to license.
