La La La, La-La-La-Lahhhh... I used to love that show, when a were a wee nipper... All those little mini-series contained within, like Danger Island*...4 Musketeers... SIZZZZZE OF AN ELEPHANT!!!
WTF?! Looks like a horror movie. Why can't it just be harmless fun? They apparently know its trash since it said look for it on BluRay and Digital. So no theatrical release then?
That does look truly awful. Nothing's sacred anymore. I happen to hate it when they cheapen kids' entertainment by doing things like this. Adult entertainment doesn't need to degrade well loved and remembered kids stuff like this. Sad times.
Will never work!! Its madness was its key. And that appealed to kids aged 9 in 1971.
The original never worked for me. It was completely moronic, which I suppose could induce madness (if you mean anger). This killer clown revamp/parody is a step up.
It was a bit of fun and nonsense, with a few cartoons thrown in. I and many on the UK side of the pond loved this show. Originally on Saturday mornings it ran forever on various kids' slots especially school holidays.
This is a typically appalling 'adult-ising' of an innocent kids' show. It's on a similar level to doing porn versions of kids favourites . God only knows what drives anyone to do it. But they will, and continue to do so. Utter shit my opinion. But hey, I'm a dinosaur and we become extinct after a while so we can't do anything else but let these morons get on with it.
Interesting to know though what's going on with the old Hannah-Barbera product. Seems no one with any respect for the original product is looking after it.
That’s, um, an interesting use of a beloved Krofft IP.
It’s like that Five Nights at Freddy’s/Showbiz Pizza mashup, but without licensing either. (Not that the mashup bothered to license—or even asked permission. Apparently Showbiz’s Aaron Fechter was not happy.)
I remember it well. Sally James presented a tidy package of US animation produce on Saturday mornings (Saturday Scene), all under one banner. Those were the days when TV finished at midnight and its start next morning began with a test card or at least a countdown to the start of daily transmission. Don't you feel the excitement and anticipation flooding through you . . .

People piss and moan about superheroes killing cinema, but I think the real cancer is movies that clearly no one in the civilized world asked for but get produced anyway, like a sitcom Shaft reboot and a goddamn horror movie starring the Banana Splits. Jesus Christ.
I don't believe it was ever intended for a cinema release. It was released direct to streaming, followed by a DVD and Blu-ray release. SyFy is planning to screen the film 21st September.
