For many people, hearing the iconic Jaws theme is enough to give them chills. So picture yourself floating in the water and then the Jaws theme begins to play, it would be terrifying! This summer, you'll have the chance to do exactly that as you'll be able to watch Ottawa's Jaws on the water screening of this classic flick!

Are you brave enough to watch the blockbuster thriller film about a shark, while you are in the water? On August 3, Interactive Flick will be hosting their Movie On The Water event where you can watch Jaws.

To this day I'm afraid to go into the ocean.

Nice idea, but it’s on a lake. Not sure that Quint would approve.

Can you imagine the hilarity...if...during the screening...someone shouted Shark!! Nah, too obvious.

If that big TV falls into the lake then they'll all be electrococooted. The whole idea is a grave irresponsibility by the mayor. When will our children be safe from those money-grabbing scumbags? And to think that they're the very ones who stopped the free milk at school, in those attractive "pyramid-shaped" non-biodegradable cartons, with straws. That made milk-drinking fun and educational, not like those modern horror films about giant zombie sharks graphically chewing swimmers' legs literally off. There was none of that in the Laurel and Hardy films, and you could leave your front door open. It's disgusting.

If I may add a 'spin' to this that is scarier than seeing it on a lake. Back in 1975 when the film opened, I was living in Monterey, California. A group of friends and I went to see 'Jaws' at the only place it was showing which was a new, rather intimate 'art-house' cinema built on Monterey's 'Cannery Row'. It was built out, OVER the water, and I recall that it was somewhat set-back, away from the street and you had to walk wooden planks of, (perhaps), 50 feet to get to the Cinema. It was night, and it was the first and only time I visited that cinema. The auditorium was completely full, and the entire time the film was playing, I could hear the occasional creakings of the pilings underneath the floor, and knowing that right under my seat, was Monterey Bay. An experience that remains (to me), as vivid nearly 45 years later as it was that night!

On Monday I was drinking in the Robert Shaw pub, situated just down the street from where he was born. He was born about 3 miles away from where i grew up.

To this day i still have a fear of water due to watching Jaws at a very young age.

I like the idea of watching it that way but i'd never go.

And it's still my favourite film of all.

If Canadian sharks are anything like the Canadian postal service, they will never reach their intended destination.

Judging by the previous 'gimmicky' ways of showing films these days (live with orchestra, on water, in space, upside down), I imagine the scariest thing about this whole event will be...

THE TICKET PRICES!!!!!!!!!

On a separate note, I really used to love those little triangle/pyramid milk cartons we used to get in school when I was a wee nipper.
It was generally the highlight of my day* and I still love milk now, in my fifties, thanks to those little triangular packs of joy.
But then Maggie Thatcher (Snatcher?) came along and stole those bundles of joy from our tiny little hands, because she was an evil witch, far scarier than anything Disney could throw at us...
OR JAWS!

*apart from playing The Persuaders in the schoolyard with me mate, us taking turns o' piece to be Tony Curtis and Roger Moore.

Guess I'm old fashion, I just want to sit back in a darkened room and watch a film. Not interested in 3D, or watching a film in a pub, or on the water, or in the park on a super large screen. I don't want any distractions or gimmicks.

If you were truly old fashioned, you would cherish a communal, cinematic experience, but in The Age of the Mobile Phone that is rarely possible anymore. The other now-dead thrill of movies is discovering a new trailer along with everyone else in the cinema.

I watch JAWS every July 4.
