Another high profile assignment. He must know a few people.

Doesn't seem like a very 'Ang Lee' decision.

Yeah... Bruckheimer strikes again.

Like I needed any reason to care even less about this piece of trash after reporting the news month ago.

According to the article at Film Music Reporter he's replaced Marco Beltrami, who I didn't know was attached to the project prior to Balfe.

Nothing against Balfe, but Beltrami is the superior composer of the two, imo.

One is THE composer, the other is the keyboard doodler.

The "real" composer was a on that film for quite a while.

Another lame score, sonic wallpaper .

Beltrami is so much better than Balfe. Just shows the state of Hollywood filmaking at present

We don't know the movie is a piece of trash. No one here does. roll eyes

That being said, the movie has been in development for around 20 years with a number of directors and stars getting involved and bailing out as the project stalled for one reason or another. And the original script has been rewritten by an additional seven writers.

Not promising, but other films have had similar hurdles. But no one on this forum knows enough about the actual film to say it's a piece of trash.

It's a shame, because Lee usually has good taste when it comes to choosing composers, so like when Guillermo Del Toro was saddled with Ramen Noodles on Pacific Rim, you just know this "composer" was forced upon him.

Lorne Balfe is one of the nicest composers around. I'm sure he'd appreciate the rude comments.

Nice guy he may be, but that doesn't mean he doesn't write terrible music.

Geez...what a load of mean and negative bastards there are on this forum...

I find myself ignoring more and more people on this forum and coming here less and less.

I personally find that Lorne Balfe has written some great pieces of music over the years. I loved his score to 13 Hours. The cue Forgotten in particular. And his score to Fallout is quite enjoyable (although it sounds somewhat artificially enhanced.)

I'll give Gemini Man a shot. But I also normally like to give most things a chance. Then if I'm let down, I just move onto the next thing or return to something else I enjoy. I feel that's more useful than coming here and bashing something I haven't seen or heard.

I'm more surprised Lee is directing this. Must have been hard up, or something. Still a shame will be missing out on an action oriented Beltrami score, though.

Great career with such limited skills.

I am still waiting for another gem like the game BEYOND: TWO SOULS, which he composed years ago.

Orrrr he just writes music you don't like.

Not everyone likes the same thing (obviously).

I really like some of Fallout. And Genesys.

He is definitely a nice guy. Has he created some bland scores? Sure. But so has pretty much everyone else. I personally enjoy a bunch of his scores, so I don’t really get why the guy gets such a bad rap for every single thing he’s attached to.
