Has anyone taken glorious advantage of this bi-annual sale? Which titles did you get? I picked up Ingmar Bergman's Cinema.

The sale, which takes place every July and November, ends August 4:

Would like to pick up Albert Brooks' Lost in America and Zemeckis' I Wanna Hold Your Hand. Have been wanting Michael Mann's Thief, but since Mann color graded the whole thing f*cking green for this release, I'd rather take a chance on finding it used somewhere for under $20.

Disposable income is still very short right now on unemployment, so the sale may be over before I actually have the cash razz

Sorry to hear that, MikeP. Hope all goes well soon. There will be another sale in November.

Time was that many an FSMer enthused over a Criterion sale. My, how times have changed, and not for the better, either.

There are many tempting choices to make! The Bergman set will keep me occupied for at least a month or two, but come November I intend to have a few bucks saved up for that month's "haul."

Getting the DVDs from B&N also keeps me from having to sweat out their (damaged) arrival BSX-Varese Sarabande style. wink

How long does this sale go on?

Hi buddy! Do you have the original GODZILLA? That's a great disc!

You should try again a few days before the sale ends. B&N are often able to restock titles that sold out early in the sale.

I would like to own Powell & Pressburger's A Canterbury Tale, assuming it's still in print. And Russell's Women in Love - Criterion paired it with his autobiographical A British Picture.

That still could be too early. I'd wait two weeks from today.

Some interesting choices, gents, but not ones I would think to consider, until now.

There should be an "FSMers visit the Criterion Closet" series.

Or more accurately, "FSMers come out of the Criterion Closet"

henry, I'm honored that you finally posted on one of my topics! You made my day, pal!

BTW, have you seen Criterion's "Three Reasons" video for Godzilla? It'll make you want to watch the movie (yet) again.

I picked up Women in Love and La Dolce Vita the other day. Although A Canterbury Tale is apparently still in print, it's not on the shelves of either of the B&N stores I checked.

I'm tempted to get The 400 Blows and Sweet Smell of Success, but I don't want anything to interrupt my Bergmania.
