So you guys have tried to contact Quartet directly and they won't reply, because I know you wouldn't be irresponsible and start baseless rumors.

If you Veruca Salts would calm the F down, you'll get it when it's ready.

Just because Quartet releases something else, digitally only for now, doesn't mean anything.

I hope you all remember there is a damn pandemic going on and getting your CD release isn't necessarily a priority right now.

Our friends at Quartet Records are located in Madrid, Spain, which is one of the hardest hit regions with COVID-19 deaths and cases.

The Spanish Government has just started to ease a total lockdown that has been in place for six or so weeks. Even with the easing, businesses are only permitted a limited set of working hours.

As you can appreciate, the rapid spread of Coronavirus together with enforced Government mandates have prevented Quartet from all the normal activities it undertakes.

It has not been possible over the last six weeks for Quartet to complete any of the additional technical work on this project that involves people working together in proximity.

I’m absolutely certain that they are just as eager and excited as you to have a finished CD of Endless Night. And you will most certainly have it in the fullness of time.

Whilst we wait, we have a lot of other wonderful film music to revisit in our collections, and may take pause to reflect on how lucky we are to still be here and that our beloved labels still be here when so much has changed around us all.

Chris

Beautifully said Chris!

So all those needy folks who MUST have new releases NOW! Calm down, don't be so selfish and as Chris said, enjoy all the music you already have.
Give these guys a break!

Today is Bernard Herrmann's Birthday Anniversary. Any news as to when the new recording is coming out? Some announcement or update made today would be ideal.

I'd like to hear something from Quartet, even if it's disappointing news.

You’d almost be tempted to think there was some kind of major global event happening that would disrupt soundtrack release announcements...

Con [el director de orquesta] Fernando Velázquez y la Orquesta de Euskadi también hemos grabado la otra partitura perdida de Herrmann, la de “Noche sin fin”, que se editará a finales de año".

This is in a newspaper article today (El Confidencial). Late in the year.

Google translation of entire quote:

With [the conductor] Fernando Velázquez and the Orquesta de Euskadi we have also recorded Herrmann's other lost score, “Night without end”, which will be released at the end of the year."

Sounds like ENDLESS NIGHT may be a December release, a perfect Christmas gift. IIRC, THE BRIDE WORE BLACK was released in December of 2018.

What is this music like? I've never seen the film.

Sounds like this. Often delicate, dreamy, romantic, with a touch of urgency. Tracks separated in youtube description. Not a fan of the moog or whatever electronic instrument that pops in the soundtrack a few times.

Cue at 9:45 (12. Prowler in the Woods) is my favorite. AKA "The Garden" in the midi reconstruction on youtube posted earlier. I suppose they won't keep the owl in the re-recording, although it sounds like a flute near the end at 11:18.

I don't see anything on their website at the moment. Do you mean Facebook or some other host site?

Let's hope they did it justice. That is, let's hope we're happy with it.
