I'm not one of those intellectuals who reads all about movies n' stuff. I'm just a casual fan who has seen some films and quite likes some of them, and some of the music. So a lot of "obvious" things go over my head, and what might be "common knowledge" amongst you lot will probably have passed me by.
So JAWS was on the television yesterday. I've seen it many times, and I've always thought that Roy Scheider looks like a shark in it. Do any of you know if Spielberg cast him because of his facial similarity to that of a shark? If so, is it "common knowledge"? And if it isn't, am I the only one who thinks he looks like a shark in it?

Brody was a cop from New York, so maybe Spielberg was thinking of the French Connection.
Shark face Scheider, that's what we...they...used to call him at school. He used to run home crying every time. Then, one time, he brought a gun to school...and shot 3 kids (true story, Google it) and nobody called him Shark face after that. I heard he went on to become an actor.
Interesting. I never thought about him looking like a shark, but I do recall several friends (whom weren't familiar with his role in The French Connection) that wondered if Scheider might be George C. Scott's brother.
