WEDNESDAY, JULY 31

THE IRISHMAN---trailer released for Netflix/theatrical mob hitman movie starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci and Harvey Keitel.

LITTLE MONSTERS---trailer released for the comedy zombie movie.

LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-Gz1lHBdMA

PRIMAL---photo released of Nicolas Cage in the movie about a big-game hunter on a freighter carrying a cargo of exotic wild animals, including a rare white jaguar, to the US. When an extradited assassin on the freighter escapes and frees the animals, terror ensues. Famke Janssen and Michael Imperioli also star.

STAR TREK---George Takei commented on appearing in the Quentin Tarantino movie after William Shatner said he would like to do a cameo in it, "Well, it all depends. He [Tarantino] s a very individualistic filmmaker, so he will decide how he envisions it, who he is gonna cast."
Earlier, Takei said, “I’m a Quentin Tarantino fan, but it seems like such a polar thing, But I think he’s got a very imaginative, inventive mind, and that is what STAR TREK was about — boldly going where no one had gone before. And Quentin Tarantino bringing all of the places that he had been to and bringing it to the 23rd century is awfully exciting. I think it’s a great combo.”

ROBERT EVANS---Paramount Pictures announced it is not renewing its relationship with producer Robert Evans (CHINATOWN, THE GODFATHER), “Bob Evans has been an iconic part of the Paramount legacy for over half a century. His contributions to the studio and film industry have been innumerable, Today we mark the end of our formal relationship with Bob as a producer, but his legacy will endure in our studio and in our hearts. There aren’t words to express our gratitude and reverence for the man whose name is synonymous with this company and the magic of movies.”

TOP GUN: MAVERICK---Kelly McGillis, 62, was asked why she was not invited to return for the sequel, "I’m old and I’m fat and I look age-appropriate for what my age is, and that is not what that whole scene is about."

NEW GODS---director Ava DuVernay has brought in comic book writer Tom King to help on the movie based on the Jack Kirby comic book. King said, “She invited me out, and she asked what team I wanted to bring. Because she wanted to assemble people who knew Kirby, and she was like, ‘Can you put together a team?’ So we put together this team. And she was smart, and a good storyteller, and it was one of the best storytelling experiences I’ve ever had. And next week I go off to work with her.
It’s a f–king joy! She’s amazing! I was doing another thing where I was doing a big Hollywood [project], working with big famous Hollywood people, and it wasn’t such a joy. Like there was egos and shit involved. She doesn’t have an ego, she just gets in there.”
DuVernay said villains Darkseid and the Furies will be in the movie.

BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE---Bruce Campbell commented on the superhero movie, "You know, effects should be used to tell a story. Because—here’s what it is: the EVIL DEAD movies are about unsuspecting people with no special powers and things happened to them. So it’s survival by normal people. So that’s all you need. To a character Ash from EVIL DEAD, he can be killed at any time. Car crash. He’s dead.
But these guys who have this special superhero power, to me that’s Snoresville. If you don’t have kryptonite, then - BATMAN V SUPERMAN. Stupid, stupid, stupid concept. Never should’ve been made. Superman who can like, make the world go backwards with centrifugal force. Batman can’t do that. Superman can frickin’ fly. He’s the man of steel. All he has - one hand on Batman’s esophagus, the story is over. So they spent a lot of money kidding themselves. Stop rinsing these superheroes! By the time we get through, they’re all going to have the same color hair, they’re all going to do the same stuff. What’s unusual about them?"

THE BATMAN---cinematographer Robert Richardson (ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD) spoke about the Ben Affleck version of the movie, “I wanted to shoot Batman with Ben [Affleck] cause that was the next film we had. There was a script, but not a loved script. There was a lot of work he was doing to it to change it. He was going into the more insanity aspects… He was entering more into the Arkham, he’s going into where everyone was bad… That’s where we were going. I was very interested in that one.”

DUNGEONS & DRAGONS---co-directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Frances Daley are in talks to direct the Paramount Pictures/Hasbro movie.

NEVERS---HBO/Joss Whedon sci fi series about a group of Victorian women who discover they have super powers. Olivia Williams, James Norton and Tom Riley star.

FAST COLOR---Amazon tv series underway based on the movie about three generations of black women who have super powers.

SUNBURNT---movie underway based on the novel about two backpackers who discover a backwater town in the Australian wilderness where outsiders are hunted for sport.

LILLIAN---Alfred Molina will direct this movie based on the novel by his wife, Jill Gascoine, about an English woman who survives cancer, travels to the US and has a lesbian relationship.

TRIVIA---legendary special effects artist Stan Winston is known for JURASSIC PARK, PREDATOR, TERMINATOR, ALIENS and other movies. He won four Academy Awards and two Emmy awards. Winston's first award was an Emmy for the 1972 tv movie GARGOYLES (Cornel Wilde, Jennifer Salt, Bernie Casey, Scott Glenn).

At last, a film i wanna see!
Could be one of the last times we see Scorsese Pacino DeNiro and Pesci reunited for a decent gangster movie.
Since goodfellas and casino, Scorsese hasnt done enough in that genre. Hes just so good at them.

Will this be a return of Nicolas Cage to an "A" movie or just another straight to video outing?

I enjoyed his blockbuster movies of the past, but has the ship sailed permanently on his big movie career?

The only thing I didn't like about the gargoyle make-up/costume was the wings. Every time Bernie Casey spoke his lines it sounds like the tin-foil wings were rattling.

I'm so sick and tired of this Quentin Tarantino Star Trek movie rumor, I almost want them to make it so they shut up about it. Endless, pointless gossip, is that what Star Trek has become?

THE IRISHMAN---trailer released for Netflix/theatrical mob hitman movie starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci and Harvey Keitel.

I'm certainly looking forward to seeing this assuming it plays Seattle. It's a Scorsese-nerd's dream cast, but some people in YouTube's comment section seem to think with Marty and that cast and subject matter that it's already a done deal that this will be a classic. I'm cautiously optimistic but worry that we'll get more dreary Kennedy conspiracy stuff.

By the way, does anyone know the name of the track played in the Irishman trailer? I can't find any reference to it by searching online.

Another bit of trivia: The voice of the gargoyle was supplied by the great Vic Perrin.

Early role by Scott Glenn.

VicPerrin appeared in hundreds of radio programs.
SO, doing a voiceover that isn't OUTER LIMITS, isn't much of a trivia tidbit.

Better luck, next time!
