Hay, Lukas,

Now that the first 'Superman' Live-to-film concert is out of the way, any chance that you'll donate those blue bounded books for the Royal Albert Hall show this June. They would make great keepsakes for the audience, especially the ones who would be discovering the film and music for the first time. I'm not a CPA, but maybe you could get a tax deduction out of the donation.

Also, perhaps you can do a talk before the concert, either on stage or a pre-recording, about how you put the 'Superman The Music' CD-set together.

Your mentioning this website to the audience at the RAH can also solve Sir David's problem in getting in more visitors to the site...

...that is, if he is still serious about it.

Whoa, fortunately, both my SUPERMAN blue box book as well as my STAR WARS TRILOGY book (which I picked up in 1993) seem perfectly alright. But I can only say, the Superman blue box book is one mighty nice CD book(let). They don't come much better than that. :-)

How much IS shipping? Mine is literally falling apart from the bad glue.

To revisit my first idea, that you said was in a "gray area":

If Joe Blow can sell a Superman CD on eBay, I don't see how there's a legal problem with Screen Archives giving away an old, out of print Superman book with every purchase of CDs over a certain dollar amount. And Screen Archives would cover your cost of mailing them the books, if they have any business sense. You don't send them first class, you send them book-rate.

Folks, I am happy to give these away, I just don't want to be dealing with looking around for envelopes and waiting in line at the post office and keeping track of who has reimbursed me. I've done more than enough mailing for one lifetime.

Geez, can't people just glue their own booklets and save Lukas' booklets for those who don't have them?

It can't be hard.

I don't know how much shipping is. I'd have to wait at the post office and mail it. The rates are all different by distance now. Sorry, I truly am happy to give these away, but you can appreciate, I hope, my reluctance to go through a lot of hassle.

Thanks,

Lukas

When my booklet deteriorated I asked SAE to send me replacement with my next order which they were able to do. I think they had stock of it then.

The detailed book is a fantastic accomplishment and must be applauded. It remains unrivaled against any other film music presentation. I wish there were more of these.

I still don't understand why you can't just ship a carton of books to SAE, have them cover your cost, and then they could spur CD sales with this free book offer. But I guess there must be a reason. From what I'm seeing, FedEx Ground will ship a 50 lb. box for under $40.

For myself, I'm all set. I have the Blue Box, the book, and a great set of scans. It would just be nice for some other customers.

They may still have some, you can ask.

They've been wonderful in handling my inventory and our extra booklets and the administration for what's left of the catalog, and I don't really want to ask them to do more work.

Hey Lukas - how many are in a box? I'd be happy to take a box off your hands if it's not too excessive a number! And I know a fair few people who'd also be happy for me to give them an extra copy. smile I think my current book is in good shape, but it also never hurts to have a back-up (or twenty).

For whatever reason I have it in my head that you're in the valley somewhere - is that right or am I way off-base? I'm in Mid-City, so a bit farther than the standard "everywhere in LA is just a 20-minute drive away", but doable.
