I hear so many bad things about THE SANDPIPER, that it's now a must-see on my list.

Be prepared for some of the most torrid scenery-chewing you've ever seen, my brother!
I love it!
It's especially resonant for those who fell in love with the absolute wrong person, but couldn't help themselves.

Almost forgot to mention, the Big Sur locations are amazing.

Well it didn't have as much hysterics as your remark led me to imagine. But then, it's not a Kazan film, is it?

And is it just me or did everyone seem too old for these particular dramatics?

Well, maybe the better phrase for me to use would have been "occasionally unsubtle".
And, yeah, people of relative youth just looked older for their age back then.

Anyway, I'm glad you saw it. I hope you enjoyed it--even if just a little.

No, ET was in her 30's and RB even older. Her role would have been better cast, IMO, with a younger woman.

But back then, if The Burtons wanted it, they got it!

ROMANCE IN THE DARK (forgotten?) gave us "The Nearness of You" (never to be forgotten!)

Choosing songs from Turkish films is a hyper-specific topic, but here goes:

“Alli Turnam” by Neset Ertas, which was used in the ever-popular Turkish film ONCE UPON A TIME IN ANATOLIA, aka BIR ZAMANLAR ANADOLU’DA:

And I don’t know if it’s considering enduring since the song is only 6 years old, but Cagatay Ulusoy’s song “Mutlu Sonsuz” from the Turkish film DELIBAL is still a pretty popular hit:

And then there’s “Soldier In The Rain” though lyrics were added to Henry Mancini’s main theme which were sung by Catherine O’Hara (Lola Heatherton) on “S.C.T.V.”.

I'd kind-of agree that the film was bit of a turkey.
