Hi there,
my first post.
I’m searching for a video performance of Morricone’s “The Ecstasy of Gold” much faithful to the original one. Morricone usually conducts it in concerts but somehow it is always faster than Nicolai’s original recording for the movie and orchestration also slightly differs (particularly the percussions at the very end).
Thanks in advance.

I don't think you'll find a really spot on performance . I have never heard one or been satisfied with what I have.

This.
Edda wasnt so sought-after for no reason. As good as they are - Rigacci, amii stewart et al - none of the sopranos he has used for concerts come close.

In fact the vocals are another "issue" to me with all the concert version of that cue I’ve heard till now. But there’s in general something different, as if all the elements of the original recording cannot be achieved. I suspect this is also due to the fact the original orchestration/conductor score has been never (or very little) utilized on the concert stage. Maybe.

Hasn't EM said, in interviews, that he writes with performers in mind. So he knows what they can do or are capable of. So equally, if they are not around, it will be different. Plus the original performances were quite unique, I think.

This is because EM alters his orchestration deliberately for 100 piece concert orchestra. Equally without edda, you are never going to get the same. Altho not up to Edda's tones, Plenty of sopranos can do passable versions of Ouatiw and ouatiA - theyre all over youtube - but that coz its easier than Ecstasy. That fast seven-note staccato defeats them all.

I thought this one was pretty spectacular. But I'm only a casual fan. I'm sure the obsessives will tell me I'm wrong (as I would do if it were my area of obsession).

Yes ive seen that mob before and they do a better version closer to original than EM does. That soprano Christine nonbo andersen could get some work with ennio on tour - if he still toured!

This is a surprise. Very close to the original infact. Thanks. Wondering if they had access to the oriiginal sheet music for the orchestration.

Unlikely. Ennio has never allowed his sheet music out. Probably whichever danish maestro who runs that orchestra did them from playing the themes and writing them up.

I went to an Alessandroni concert in italy where a 50 piece orchestra (far better for most Ennio western themes) played ennios themes from Leone's films - even he had to write the partitures out himself from scratch over the previous summer.

I heard he's really jealous with his score.

I agree with every word of this remarkable man, but not all people are so gifted authors. Most of them use essay writing service. And I know one service the best essay writing service. You can check our website https://essaysource.com/ if you need help!
