I've noticed a large number of my Blu-ray movies are having playback problems such as freezing or my Blu-ray player says "Cannot operate the disc". I have 16 Twilight Time Blu-ray movies, and four of them have playback problems. Five Paramount movies have similar problems. I have about 340 Blu-ray movies, and so far I think about 15 have playback problems. but I haven't tested all of them. Questions: 1. If the Blu-ray player has a dirty lens, would that cause the playback problems on ALL my movies? (i.e., since all of my movies don't have the problem, then a dirty lens is not causing the playback problems). 2. Is anyone else having playback problems with Twilight Time Blu-ray movies? Hi buddy! Yes, a dirty lens would do that. You can buy a lens cleaner at Wal-mart, Best Buy, Target and other places. They're about $10 to $20. I would give it a try. So far I have not had Twilight Time Blu-ray problems, but I wish you luck.

I have 16 TT Blu-ray movies, most about 1-2 years old and did not have playback problems when I first watched them, but some have just recently developed playback problems. Here the four titles with playback problems: 1. IN LIKE FLINT---always freezes at 1 hour, 18 minutes elapsed time (when Jean Hale says, "Cosmonauts?...Ballerinas?"). 2. FIRST MEN ON THE MOON---menu does not work ("Play Movie" does not work, etc.). Sometimes when the disc is inserted into the player there is only a black screen (not even a copyright warning, etc.). 3. EXPERIMENT IN TERROR---it started up slow, but played twice. Minutes later, it would not play at all (Blu-ray player says, "Cannot operate this disk"). 4. NIGHT OF THE GENERAL---black screen only (not even a copyright warning, etc). I'm in the process of watching all of my TT collection from start to finish to check for problems. It's odd to me that none of these Twilight Time movies had playback problems when I first watched them 1-2 years ago, but only now the playback problems are starting. One movie (20th Century Fox) I watched last year cannot be played by my Blu-ray player at all. If my Blu-ray player has a dusty lens, why doesn't it affect ALL of my Blu-rays, instead of only a few? Any other suggestions as to what the problem is?

Sometimes if a blu won't play , I put a SD disc in until it loads. The I replace it with the BR. SOMETIMES, that works and the BR loads.

solium, if you ever need help with anything you should know I'm an expert with home theater electronics, Betta fish and dinosaurs. Hey Henry, would you know if there is an easy way to fix my Laserdisc player issue? It plays for a few seconds and them skips back to where it started. It then plays a little bit and then zip, back another 30 seconds... Thanks!!!

If not I would try the easiest thing first, unplug it for a minute. If that doesn't work try a laser lens cleaner. If those don't work I'm afraid there's not much else you can do except bring it to Best Buy's geek squad. I'm sorry I can't help you more. Good luck and keep me posted. Yeah it happens on every disc. I'll try the laser lens cleaner. I cannot imagine the Geek Squad would even know what this massive beast is, let alone how to fix it. Thanks!!!

Is the software on your Blu-Ray player up to date? A while ago I had issues with Blu-Ray playback on some Blu-Rays and then I updated the software on the player, and the Blu-Rays have since played just fine.

Sorry, there's not much else you can really do. Nah, I appreciate it. It's just frustrating because I got the last of the Pioneer LD players off the line before they stopped making them. It was a $900 expenditure and it was barely used.

I would take a glance at this... https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=laserdisc+repair ...but if your player is done, maybe there's a business solution: one of those shops that take your old media and transfer it to DVD-R.
