For the poster who wondered why there was only one mention of Playing By Heart , , , well, you're right. That should have been on my list. "Vows Renewed" is one of Barry's best cues on record and in the film.

Brighton Rock ran for a couple of months in Islington during the fall of 04. I saw a performance and loved the score. Some somber tunes, some Catholic choral music, a witty tango, and some instrumental crime music that reminded me of the "attack" cues in The Whisperers. Of course, I'm relying on one hearing from 15 years ago.

Barry fans unite!

Awesome. I hope I can hear that score at some point.

All of his post DWW scores are gems. But The Specialist is something really ...well.... special.

But Across the Sea of Time is a one hour movie that has not ONE, not TWO, not THREE, but FOUR themes, each one better than the next. A special shout out to Julia's Theme, played on Coney Island. One of the nicest pieces of music in a film I have heard, period.

And then there is Indecent Proposal. It is a marginal movie in which Barry's score adds SOOOO much. Its one of my favorite scores of the 90's.

So my Top 3 are (in order)

The Specialist
Across the Sea of Time
Indecent Proposal

I think I listed ATSOT as one of the "CDs You Regret Buying" thread.
Lol!
Glad you like it!

SWEPT FROM THE SEA is definitely among my all time favorite John Barry scores.

But I also generally like his scores. ACROSS THE SEA OF TIMES, INDECENT PROPOSAL, CRY, THE BELOVED COUNTRY... stuff.

"Did you call me" from The Specialist is one of the most underrated movie themes of the 1990s.

For me, PLAYING BY HEART, a brilliant score.
