I've reported you.

Sounds more like Hans Zimmer than John Barry to me. What made Barry such a great composer was his gift for melody and harmony. This isn't very melodically or harmonically complex. I have nothing against Junkie XL but this sounds like a lot of Hollywood music today -- keyboard-originated, avoidant of too much melody or harmony (so as not to "interfere" with the drama) with some polishing by an orchestrator.

Junkie XL is the new John Barry like Brian Tyler is the new Jerry Goldsmith or Michael Giacchino is the new John Williams. This is very true. But IMHO, Junkie, Tyler and Giacchino are the best of the more recent composers. Max Richter too. Ballsy questioning statement. My goodness John Barry dude! Second guy: Eegads! Beltrami, Velazquez. Soderqvist. George Kallis, Frank Ilfman, Benjamin Walfisch, Chad Cannon, Abel Korzeniowski, Ivan Palomares, Pablo Cervantes. and I just woke up.

More like Conrad Pope is the ‘new’ John Barry. Any listenability in Junkie’s recent works can be credited to him.

Ohhhhh, I didn't know Conrad Pope had been orchestrating for The Junk in recent times. Interesting. That linked track still reminds me of John Barry. I suppose it's similar to the way Julian Nott's The Wrong Trousers is awash in "Barry's" blends and textures, thanks to Nic Raine. By the way, how have you been, Kev? I'm long overdue for a visit to Liverpool!

Well Graham, have YOU listened to my Junk? Can YOU hear it? I caved in, Kev. I did it for you, and in an endeavour to reduce my prejudices. So here's the truth - it's a tiny bit like John Barry in its massed brass progressions, but it's much more like standard, thunderous modern action music for blockbusters. I'll say this in Mr XL's favour though - I expected even less from a fat guy in a long basketball vest, a baseball cap around the wrong way, fingers full of jewellery, and a limousine full of his "bitches". I can't post photographs of him directly from my spaceship, but if someone could upload one please, you'll see what I'm talking about. Thanx!

Junkie XL is the new John Barry like Brian Tyler is the new Jerry Goldsmith or Michael Giacchino is the new John Williams. That is to say, not at all. Yes! Thank you! +1
