As of 08 2019, I thought I'd post about computer games that are worthy. Not "triple A" productions, necessarily, and DEFINITELY not because some marketting company is pushing something. These are superb games that in my own experience I spend a great deal of time actually playing.

Beat Hazard 2 - Mentioned elsewhere already, a friendly arcade shooter keying off whatever music theme *you* see fit to literally play. Ships also generated off the music theme. The interface for selecting your music is a slightly wonk'ish file menu, but you eventually find your music.

They Are Billions - rts tower defense focussed around building a fortified city, then defending it from thousands of zombies. The campaign game is fun, with Diablo'esque missions interspersing the city-build missions, but the difficulty can be frustrating even on Easy by virtue of the insane rate at which a zombie destroys civilian structures. No need for that speed. Still, quite fun & different.

Airships: Conquer The Skies - Wow. A side-scrolling strategy real-time pauseable action game based upon Victorian steam airships. Walkers, pirates, triplanes, ramming, and cooperative play contribute to a game in which you design (complex arrays of options, yet sensical workable interface with tips!) your war machines, issue them orders, and behold cannon carnage. SUPERB implementation of structural damage.

Earth Defense Force 5 - Third-person shooter, coop for up to four players. The base game has over a 100 missions. Four different playable classes of soldier in a Starship Trooper, Japanese english (!) over-the-top plot. Utterly brilliant. As with its EDF 4.1 predecessor, hundreds of hours of gaming to be had. Deserves awards.

Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2 - Rts of Warhammer 40,000 starship combat. Vessels lumber about believably in a space that gets more amazing the further you go into the tutorial/campaign. Oozes atmosphere. Another actual real game that deserves awards for being so.

Amid Evil - Polished first-person solo shooter for people who just want a well-made opportunity to kill stuff. Stylized polygonal-themed enemies & architecture almost reminiscent of TRON.

Warhammer 40,000: Gladius Relics Of War - Turn-based hexagonal wargame. Many hours into this. Good cooperative contest. No diplomacy beyond initial team setups, just war. smile

More later. Eventually.
