It's coming up to that time, the yearly Beatles re-master, & this year it's Abbey Road on Sep. 27th. The re-mastered album plus a second disc of different takes for the normal price, then it jumps up to nearly £100 for the three disc version plus big book for the real diehard fans (those that are still alive). I bought the 50th anniversary CD of Sgt. Pepper & then The White Album & I think the only time I played them was the day they arrived, & I know I'll be buying this as well, I have to, it's my past.
Ah, a fan. This is not really the right site to post this stuff, I did it just for info, & plenty of other sites are buzzing about it. I never did buy the CD, but I'll buy this (the two CD). The first track, Come Together is one of the all time greats & hasn't aged a bit in fifty years, on the other hand, anything recorded just ten years before Abbey Road (1959) sounded pretty old fashioned then. I'd like some of the earlier albums given the treatment, but I understand there's a lot less (out takes ect.) to play with.
Rameau, the expensive “Super Deluxe Edition”, with the two “sessions” discs, a Blu-ray disc with three distinct mixes of the original album, and the vinyl album-sized one-hundred page hardcover book is the way to go on this one.
I haven’t been able to access the Blu-ray program, but the original album and two session discs are just as good as you’d expect.
