Wife watches the two UK biggies, Corrie and Eastenders. They're usually professional enough, with just the occasional dip. Personally it means I can eat my evening meal (in the sitting room on the lap when it's just me and the Mrs) without trying to watch telly at the same time. They're not something I need to concentrate on. Even the wife thinks of them as throwaway tv to wind down to after work, and they're certainly not something we'd set the timer for when we're not in!

I never watched any daytime soaps. And I never watched any of the official nighttime soaps ("Dallas," "Knots Landing," et al). But I did watch "Desperate Housewives" religiously. Does that count as a soap? And with continuing story threads on nearly every dramatic show these days, what doesn't count as a soap anymore?

I watch Emmerdale Farm to learn about the day to day workings of a modern day farm in rural England. I hope to use such knowledge when our country runs out of food in the very near future and we can survive on our toiling of the land. So far though, I've only learned how to lie, rape, murder, embezzle and sleep with all the women in our village.
