The question is whether many of them were actually things a lot of people were clamoring for, although I don't think any were bad releases by any means. It was a nice idea for a series, in general.
All future Deluxe Editions will be done by La La Land Records.
I don't need *all* of them to be done by LLL going forward, but Varese puts out their own so occasionally it would really be nice if they would allow some of the other labels to take care of the ones they aren't eager to tackle.
Like, c'mon, it's been YEARS since Twilight Time put out extended isolated score tracks for The Other and both Flint scores. Those score tapes were restored for that! How on EARTH did Varese not piggyback on that to put out definitive complete editions of all three (those iso scores are wonderful to have but they still preserve the film's edits of cues instead of having them all complete as recorded)?
Well all three of those titles are Fox, and maybe the Disney purchase complicates them. But the fact that LLL got Fox's two Goldsmith Apes scores to remaster and reissue on their beautiful 500th release box set...well, that gives me hope that they might tackle those other ones.
Varese can put out definitive editions of the scores they care about, but let LLL (or Intrada) have the other ones please?
Yavar
That series was a combination of factors...
Specific title or composer requests that would never have been released as Varese CD Club Tallied requests from lists fans would send (for example we'd get requests from a fan wanting anything by xxx composer then we'd see what was available)
The point of that series was to offer up releases people did ask for and may not have gotten a release anywhere else.

I entered it. Seems like just an excuse to collect and sell our contact info.

Basically, for the cost of a single collection (oh, so generous Varese) they get hundreds of emails, names AND physical addresses. Not a bad cost for a large mailing list so they can spam your inbox with useless vinyl releases and CDs that never show up when you order them. The scary part of this? "...allow Dread Central and companies related to this contest use of your email address." So, who ARE the companies related to this contest? How many of them are there? The world may never know....but your inbox will.

Every-site has spam its on here too. I've got a spare email that I've never used but its still crammed of poop - winning prizes. Advertising has taken-over the inter-net so badly where your details could automatically be sucked-inn like it or not, Also I shouldn't have to agree terms with cookies or what-ever-else just to open a basic site. I use the net very little today it stinks..

Probably because there are only so many of them in existence. It's a collectable - not pretty, but something neat.

Already own the 2CD so I'm passing on entering this one.
No worries. I am on vacation at the moment so I think I missed posting about the latest one.
But I got informed from Nerdist that I won a John Wick 2 CD. Their release form says they only ship to USA but they said Varese will send me a CD to Canada. I will report back if it shows up!
