Sorry to add a demerit Oct. but the book doesn't go into any tech specs (I, too, wish it had). Its rather high-level, some of which I didn't know or had forgotten.

The layout averages, say a paragraph maybe two amid old adverts & concert ads, photos. In that regard the book is a letdown, but I never really had collected print type material on the band, so it's fun nostalgia.

Played the DTS mix of Ricochet today - sounds fantastic, you are there type mixing. Not more to say!
Planning to dig more tomorrow.

The book is merely a bonus. I never expected it to list all their gear. wink

With all the hubbub over the new "Pilots" set, I realized I hadn't checked this thread in a while.
So back in the spring (just before everything went to Hell) I bought "Cyclone".
It was basically just a way of dipping my toe in the water, and it was the disc that had "Baryll Blue" as a bonus track--so that was a must-have.

The SQ is really beautiful.
It has a really nice, comprehensive booklet as well.
And while it's not my favorite album, it really served it's purpose--because not long after that I went to my "Used CD Shop Guy" to see if he could track down a used copy of the box.
A few months ago I got the call that he was able to find one that was in great shape and he let me have it for about $125.00.
The fact that someone would buy a set like this and then take it in to a used shop and sell it off still boggles my mind a little.
But I guess everyone has their way of coping through hard times.
($125 was a hard time for me back then, I can tell you.)

But anyway, I can add my voice to everyone else here saying how great the set is.
The book is just luxurious and Ben Wiseman did a superlative job with the remastering.
He was also in charge of the most recent editions of the Pink Years albums and though there are some playback-speed issues with those CD's, the sound is fantastic on them.
I'm very happy to say that, so far, I haven't picked up on any speed issues with "Hades".

I am going to follow a similar plan with "Pilots".
I would imagine the contents will be released as individual CD's like before.
"Hyperborea" is one of my faves, and if that is as great as I think it will be, then I'll have no choice but to happily pull the trigger on that box too.
Who needs food anyway?
