Never heard this before. Does an unused score exist?
Her copy of the film, on VHS, is a black and white workprint, very poor quality. Apparently the purpose of this workprint was to test different versions of the score to the film. Trevor Jones' great score is present, but so is about 15 minutes of a version by Vangelis which was also being considered. I don't believe she included the Vangelis version when she posted it.

I doubt it. I've read Vangelis was at one point considered for The Dark Crystal (and an excerpt from Vangelis' album Beaubourg was used in the Dark Crystal teaser).
I am skeptical however that he actually provided anything for the film. Trevor Jones was brought in well before the film was completed, providing source music for a couple of scenes (like "Gelfling Song" and "The Pod Dance") which had not yet been shot.
I'm not as knowledgeable as some of you. Though perhaps it was something I didn't know about. I mean its the first time I ever heard Vangelis was even considered for the film.

But yeah I guess its much about nothing.
It is possible though. I know it is rumored there is an unfinished Greystoke score in Vangelis' tape library.
