GAME OF THRONES---sources say HBO is close to developing the pilot for a second GAME OF THRONES spinoff series which will be a prequel based on George RR Martin's FIRE & ICE. It is set 300 years before the original tv series and focuses on the “beginning of the end for House Targaryen”. Martin is the pilot's co-writer.

DARK ARMY---Universal Pictures/Paul Feig monster movie underway which will be part of Universal's Dark Universe reboot of its classic horror movies. DARK ARMY will include characters from the classic horror movies and new characters.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE---Hayley Atwell confirmed she will be the female lead in the seventh and eight movies.

IN THE TALL GRASS---poster released for the Netflix movie based on the Stephen King and Joe Hill novella. Patrick Wilson stars.

OLD MAN---Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow star in this FX pilot underway based on the novel about a retired CIA agent who comes out of retirement after he is targeted by an assassin.

DEV---FX/Alex Garland eight-part miniseries underway about a software engineer who investigates her employer's secret division that may have murdered her boyfriend.

TOKYO VICE---Ansel Elgort and Ken Watanabe star in this HBO Max series about a US journalist who embeds with the Tokyo Vice Squad.

DELILAH---Michael McKean stars in this HBO Max comedy pilot about a recently-widowed car dealership owner and the young woman who shows up claiming he is her father.

THE LOST GIRLS---Emma Thompson and Ellen Burstyn star in this movie based on the novel about four generations of Darling women after their adventures with Peter Pan.

LEATHERSTOCKING TALES---BBC tv series underway based on the James Fenimore Cooper novels.

FLEISHMAN IS IN TROUBLE---FX miniseries underway based on the novel.

SUPER DINOSAUR---new Amazon animated tv series based on the Robert Kirkman comic book.

TRIVIA---in EXECUTIVE DECISION (Kurt Russell, Halle Berry), commando leader Lt. Col. Austin Travis (Steven Seagal) is killed off early in the movie. Contrary to popular belief, Travis was not killed off early because of Seagal's obnoxious behavior once filming began, but his death was in a draft of the original script. Seagal actually appeared in the movie as a favor to Warner Bros.

Umm, didn't they just try a Dark Universe thingy and failed miserably at it?

It blew me away when he got killed off so early in the film. (No pun intended)

Right? Seagal was a huge star at the time and his death in the film was unexpected and, really, kinda nightmarish. There was no indication of his losing consciousness or being killed before he was ejected. So, Travis - a good guy - had to face his death from the plane to the ground. Unless his back was broken when he hit the lip of the chute and he was spared this...

Yes, all that ran though my head watching his quick two second death scene. One of Stuart Baird's best films.
