Gee whiz, one of the century's few full-blooded scores with big themes and motifs (WAR) is being dismissed as a one of the worst. On a film music site. No wonder the fashion is for ambient droning and mood organ stylings (AD ASTRA).
Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice (and I thought Man Of Steel was bad!) OUCH! It really hurts to listen to - but I guess - that score was made for the future generation of cinema goers. Really awful music - basically - it is just a bunch of sound effects and thunderous banging! Sorry - I love the sound of thunder - what is that noise? A Jack Hammer?!
Anything by (the modern day) Hans Zimmer - hurts to listen to.
I wouldn't know what the worst score is because I try only to listen to music I enjoy. So whatever the worst scores are, I probably did not listen to them anyway.
But movie scores are written for movies -- and when I'm watching a film with bad music, I'm kind of stuck listening to it (and it compromises -- and sometimes ruins -- the film).
Okay I thought of two. Big Hero 6 and Spider-Man Into the Spider Verse. Both scores are painful to my ears and distract from the film and do not support the emotions or actions on screen.
