It irritates me that Onya has hijacked this thread about a new release from a composer he admits he doesn't like...
I would gently push back on this statement and say that there are at least four John Barry scores that I absolutely adore.
This gets into a question of how we mentally categorize our favorite composers. I would say, for example, that I generally "like" Bernard Herrmann more than John Barry, but that those four Barry scores would outrank many of the Herrmann scores that I generally "like."
