Ugh, 50 is just far too young. And he seemed like such an awfully nice guy. Very enthusiastic and grateful for his life and career.

RIP, Nog.

Wow, really? Nobody? Not even Trek fans? We have more than a handful....

I know the major characters of DS9 but never really watched the series, so I'm not familiar with the actor. (I'm a classic Trek fan.)

Very sad news to die so young. Obviously had health issues. RIP.

I was surprised he was 50, though 50 is too damn young to go.

He genuinely seemed like a nice guy and was a highlight in that recent DS9 documentary. His character might have the biggest story arc in the franchise, considering what the writers put him through by Season 7.

Nog was annoying to me when he first appeared, but the story they created for him throughout the series was really good and he - the character and the actor - totally won me over.

My wife and I loved him in DS9, heck, we loved all the Ferengis (and before I did a full series watch a few years ago I didn't think I'd ever say that). Very sad to hear this, but wonderful to see all the love from Trek colleagues.

I liked the Ferengi characters, too. They were more human than the humans on DS9.

My favorite Nog line came when Jake Sisko wanted to buy something, and pay for it by mooching off Nog. It went something like this:

NOG: Why don't you use your own money?
JAKE: I don't have any. Humans don't need money.
NOG: Then you certainly don't need mine.
