Anyone else caught the latest biopic? Great central performance (which is what the movie is all about I'd say) by Renee Zellweger. Never actually seen a film of hers all the way through before this. But I came away from it feeling it was almost identical in certain ways to the earlier Stan and Ollie. Quite apart from the BBC Films logo, it's about a Hollywood 'act' in her later days, spent performing in England. It even starts with showing her in the heyday of filming The Wizard of Oz (as Stan and Ollie started with their filming Way Out West). One thing Judy scores over Stan and Ollie is the sprinkling of the 30s scenes throughout the film. Wish they'd done that in in the latter as their scene in the studio making Way Out West was my favourite scene.
