Marshmallow = Then I Grew Up.

When did that happen?

when MOONRAKER defiled the screens of America!

I'm a proud member of the Moonraker Fan Club. Best Bond film ever!

I once went to a comic book convention in the early 70's and signed up for FOOM magazine. Never recieved a single issue.

Isn't FSM a "Fan Club" of sorts?

Was there a Hammer film fang club? I did know a fellow once who subscribed to the magazine Little Shoppe of Horrors.

I only mention this because I wanted to make a (tenuous maybe) link to the fact that the Tadlow Dracula cd just popped through my letterbox this lunchtime and am listening to it as I type. Glorious!

There. That must be the biggest number of threads (three so far) I can brag about this on....

Nearly made the same point myself, since websites and forums have largely replaced fanzines and fan clubs up to a point.

Oh, and thanks for reminding me that I too joined FOOM. I can only remember one magazine, a membership card and a poster which I had hanging for quite a while. Yep, early 70s, from Marvel UK of course. Spiderman Comics Weekly, and the other main weekly, Mighty World of Marvel.

Yes, I think if you join a forum that counts as a fan club. It can be anything, music, hobbies, sports, cat videos, whatever.

Is the Star Wars Fan Club at P.O. Box 111000, Aurora CO 80042 USA still active? Is anyone here a member? Is it worth being a member? I wrote to them in January and never received a response.

I am pretty sure this is long defunct. I think it was associated with Starland, which was actually a pretty big con and mail-order company in the 80's and 90's, with a cute store in Aurora CO. It didn't survive the early years of the Internet (just as ThinkGeek has been subsumed and made irrelevant joining GameStop). They still still produce the StarFest convention every year that has been subsequently eclipsed by the Denver Pop Culture Con (which was first called ComicCon until the San Diego con forced it to change the name).

I think I joined a Star Trek or Star Wars club one year (hilarious that I can't remember which) in the 90's before I had a child and just didn't care any more (again with the Internet making clubs mostly superfluous).

The only one I really remember was joining a Lord of the Rings club, probably through this collectible magazine. I remember Frodo Lives keyfob or pin or something, but it's all lost in the mist of time.

I got that special mag. It still sits inside the plastic cover of my vinyl LP of the Leonard Rosenman soundtrack. I got the photonovel too. Ah, the days before home video...

In 1960 Dmitri Shostakovich was forced to join the Communist Party. He wept.

Fifty years later I was added into the Cult of Goldsmith. I left Facebook.

As admin of the dreaded cult of Jerry, I apologize. I try not to let people add others without their consent, so if I missed that I'm very sorry.

My tongue was firmly in my cheek. I don’t think I could have been added entirely against my will. (Was that okay, daddy?)

I did find a lobby group for normal people like me but quickly tired of it. Campaigning for more legroom at sports stadiums isn’t high on anyone’s priority list.

I'd never wanna be part of a club that already had me as a member, like the Marx Bros one I'm in...
