I know this is one of Jerry's more reviled scores, but I for one really like the love theme at least, and of course as a completist (Jerry's scores almost always play better in complete form) I would buy a Deluxe Edition in an instant. (I know there are more crazy Goldsmith nuts out there like me!) I don't have time at the moment to do a Complete Score Breakdown for what is in the film, but I ran across a complete cue listing on the Academy's website because the full written score is in their library holdings. Here it is, with the obviously unreleased cues in bold: http://collections.new.oscars.org/Details/Archive/71302986 1-2 "Mister Baseball," 5 pages 1-5 "Triple Play," 1 page 1-6/2-1 "The Dragons," 3 pages 2-2 "New Apartment," 1 page 2-4 "The Locker Room," 1 page 3-1 "A Free Agent," 1 page 4-1 "Call Me Jack," 1 page 4-2 "Very Japanese," 1 page 6-2 "A Wise Brain," 2 pages 6-3 "Acceptance," 1 page 6-4 "The Bath," 3 pages 7-1 "Go Get 'Em," 1 page 8-1 "Training," 4 pages 8-2 "Team Effort," 4 pages "Insert," 1 page 9-1 "Winning Streak," 2 pages 11-1 "Swing Away," 4 pages 11-4 "He's Still At It," 1 page 11-5 "Final Score," 10 pages "Love Theme," 1 page Obviously if these cues are in film order (which seems likely given their numbers), the album was substantially re-arranged, unlike say Love Field. Certain cues from different parts of the film were combined. It seems the original album did make a point of including the titles of both cues when they were combined, though, so I think it likely that the cues not mentioned are in fact unreleased (except for perhaps "Insert" or "Love Theme" which may have been stuck in?). So the original album is almost complete because only a handful of short single-page cues appear to be left off. I will eventually go through the film itself, as I said, to assess the quality (and figure out the length) of the unreleased music, but for now I thought folks might just be interested to know roughly how many more cues could be added...seems like it would be about the same amount of music (~5 minutes) as was added on to The Omen 40th Anniversary Edition, compared with the original Deluxe Edition. I guess in John Takis we've found the right man to pen the liner notes for Mr. Baseball: The Deluxe Edition when it eventually comes out (probably after every other Goldsmith score than can be expanded has been expanded, haha!) Yavar
