La-La Land Records, MGM and the Michael Kamen Estate proudly present the expanded and remastered re-issue of the original motion picture score to the big-screen ‘80s action classic ROAD HOUSE starring Patrick Swayze, Sam Elliott and Kelly Lynch, and directed by Rowdy Herrington. Legendary composer Michael Kamen (LETHAL WEAPON 1-4, DIE HARD 1-3, THE LAST BOY SCOUT) closes out the 1980s with yet another dynamite action score, capping a thrilling decade’s worth of classic action music -- and suggesting still further exciting scores to come in the 1990s. Kamen’s work was a perfect fit for the action films he scored – expertly supporting large-scale thrills and chills, but always finding the true drama in the film’s narrative and the beating heart in its heroes – and ROAD HOUSE is no exception. This expanded and remastered re-issue, produced by Neil S. Bulk in collaboration with the Michael Kamen Estate and mastered by Doug Schwartz, (from high resolution transfers of the recently located, complete set of original 3-Track stereo mixes), arrives in time for the film’s 30th Anniversary and is limited to 2000 units. The exclusive and in-depth liner notes are by writer Jeff Bond, and the fist-flying art design is by Dan Goldwasser.

The last six tracks on this presentation (in the “additional music” portion) are sourced from the previous Intrada release, and we thank that label for their inclusion.

La-La Land Records, Paramount Pictures and Universal Music Special Markets presents the 35th Anniversary re-issue of renowned composer Harold Faltermeyer’s (FLETCH, TOP GUN, THE RUNNING MAN) original motion picture score to the legendary 1984 Paramount Pictures action/comedy BEVERLY HILLS COP, starring Eddie Murphy, Judge Reinhold and John Ashton, and directed by Martin Brest. Composer Faltermeyer defined the 80’s film score pop-synth sound and BEVERLY HILLS COP is arguably his most iconic work – and certainly his most influential, as its infectious themes and compositions have continued to inspire throughout the decades into the present day. The original film score is showcased in this deluxe presentation, which also includes bonus tracks -- and the original soundtrack release’s most notable songs, featuring the sizzling “The Heat is On,” performed by the late Glenn Frey (written by Faltermeyer and Keith Forsey), the hold-on-for-dear-life-truck-chase “Neutron Dance,” performed by The Pointer Sisters and more! Produced by for La-La Land Records by Dan Goldwasser and mastered by Doug Schwartz, this limited edition re-issue of 2000 units includes exclusive, in-depth liner notes by writer Tim Greiving, with new interview quotes from Faltermeyer, and Rodeo Drive-kind-of-classy art design by Goldwasser. A must for all film music fans. It’ll sound great blaring in your car – even if there’s a banana stuffed in your tailpipe!

Here is the track listing of Intrada's 2012 Road House release from soundtrackcollector.com for comparison (I had to use that site as Intrada have removed their own listing).

1. The Homestead (Dalton's Theme) (02:37)
2. Tai Chi (01:33)
3. Nobody Ever Wins A Fight (01:52)
4. Drop Like A Stone (03:15)
5. Invitation To Brads (01:54)
6. On The Rooftop (05:41)
7. Loading Dock Fight (07:44)
8. This Is My Town (03:13)
9. Emmet's House Explodes [Original Version] (01:01)
10. Dalton And Reno Fight (03:19)
11. Heads Or Tails? (03:00)
12. The Final Confrontation [Original Version] (04:44)
13. The Final Confrontation [Film Version] (06:15)
14. Final Theme (01:54)
48.02

So if I work it out correctly, the Intrada release had 42 mins approx of the film music and LLL's has 48 (I'm discounting extras here). Does this mean the missing reel has finally been found?

Intrada blurb from 2012:

"Intrada was able to locate all but one of the nine 2” 24-track scoring session master reels. While this allowed for brand new two-track mixes of most of score, the lone missing reel contained two cues: the orchestral version of “Emmet’s House Explodes” and the sequence immediately after Dalton finds his best friend mortally wounded prior to the final confrontation."

Wow. Color me excited if everything has been found for Road House. Not happy to be buying it so soon after the initial Intrada release but that’s how it goes with these releases. New Kamen just made my day!

I mean, it's been 7 years which is quite a while. How long would you prefer LLL waited? smile

I just think it's too bad Intrada got stuck with putting out an incomplete release out of necessity. No doubt they licensed and paid for it in advance, and then found out that a reel was missing.

Can anyone who worked on this album confirm if the piano overdubs were included on "The Final Confrontation"?

Great to see the missing music has been discovered. Grateful for Intrada’s release at the time but will pick this up of course as it is from the late great Michael Kamen who is much missed.

Samples sound fantastic! Road House ordered. Is the Final Confrontation sample different then Intradas? Or is it just the remastered clarity that is making it sound different. Wesley’s Fall is great to hear too. What a surprise to wake up too. Wonder if lala uncovered any other Kamen nuggets while they were working with his estate for this.

It's been really cool the kind of cooperation some of the labels have been doing with each other the last few years. So koodos to Intrada.

Oh yeah! That’s the cue I’ve been clamoring for since I saw the film back in the 90s! Funny I didn’t even realize it hearing the sample. Guess I expected it to be its own short cue but it now starts out the Final Confrontation cue. Sweet.

I picked up Beverley Hills Cop right before it was sold out. Nice that its repressed for those that missed it. (if only the titles I missed got re-released. Which never seems to be the case!) Never heard Road House before.

So glad Road House is finally complete. I remember Intrada putting so much effort trying to locate everything back then and even asking publicly if it would still be worth it to release it with missing cues. It is sweet to see the efforts from both labels paying off. Also, I really enjoy this new trend of LLL working with the Michael Kamen estate lately... it yields some very good results so far!!

The only road house I want to listen to is " Roadhouse Blues" by THE DOORS!
