Fewer, but larger, orders is my preferred way to shop. For that reason, Intrada and SAE get most of my business, since I can get titles across multiple labels from each of those two vendors. Yeah, that. More than once I've been on the LLL website, seen a few interesting things, loaded up a basket, got to the payment stage, fallen off my chair at the shipping price, thought sod this for a game of soldiers, deleted everything and quit out. Hey ho; I'll live!

What a spoiled society where people getting 15% off a product they want complain about 7,50$ for human beings picking up their goods, making sure it has a safe journey and delivering it to your door. Maybe LaLaLand & Co. can do a deal where the packages are being picked up and delivered only once a month and save some bucks for their customers. And of course extras like tracking aren't really necessary, right? Oh, and I'm looking forward to all these threads on broken jewel cases for cheap packaging and handling. Or maybe look at the sale this way: "Cool, LaLaLand is offering us the equivalent of FREE SHIPPING in the US." Because its not like they are saving the money you pay for shipping. As for moviemusic.com 1$ shipping: Yes, it's a pretty cool offer, however, they don't do sales, so it comes down to pretty much the same as if ordering from other companies during a sale. And as I sidenote, you want to talk about expensive shupping? Look at the international rates of ANY soundtrack company. And I might have to pay custom charges too, so I would need about 50% off for getting even.

When the labels have sales Ive put identical items in various shopping carts and when done I might save a few dollars over a regular order at MM. So technically it might be a sale but I'm not really saving any money to speak of. It would be more appropriate to advertise "free shipping", though most labels over charge on shipping. And before anyone says I'm ungrateful I purchase my most desired releases usually at full price within weeks of release.

Me: “Hmmm, 15% off, eh? Well, maybe I can find something I don’t already have. Oh I love this score…” TEMPORARILY OUT OF STOCK Me: “Crap. Okay, let’s keep scrolling. Oooo! I love this one!” TEMPORARILY OUT OF STOCK Me: “Sigh. Okay, this one I don’t have.” TEMPORARILY OUT OF STOCK Me: “Whatever, I’m broke anyway.”

But free shipping would probably only aply to US citizens, so the discount is the fairer way to go. (Also, it might make a differences for taxes whether you discount the product or the shipping costs, but I don't know the US law in that regard.) As for overcharging on shipping, that's probably true, at least to the point where the customer also pays for the employee who puts the items into the boxes and, of course, the box itself. That being said, if the labels would lower the shipping costs and add those extra charges to the CD themselves, we wouldn't be happy either. It still surprises me, that the average limited edition soundtrack single CD release still costs the 20 bucks FSM charged when they started out more than 20 years ago despite everything that goes into the making of these releases from manpower to ressources probably got more expensive.
