I saw that. Yes i think dolce and gabbana have used Ecstasy before, among other brands. When you are in italy and tv is on, you hear bursts of Ennio stuff on lots of adverts, gameshows, all sorts.

Yes, cannot find the link at the moment though... there was a 30 seconds track involving you before the encores, called "Happy birthday, Ennio!", pity there is no video of that moment... anyhow, here is the full setlist:

Thanks milan - i think Hue and his brother were too busy starting the singing of happy birthday to keep recording!

Previously we have seen a track listing where Happy birthday Ennio was given a track number, havent we! I loved that the clarinet and bassoon guys started accompanying the crowd spontaneously and the rest of orchestra joined in. Brill moment.

Here on Gran Canaria one of the tracks they play in the restaurant is an odd version (arranged for keyboards and percussion) of OUATITW. Taurito loves Ennio Morricone!

Seemed appropriate to put this in here in an ennio thread. Maybe old news to some but i found out long-standing Morriconian David Bunn died last year. Id know his name for years although never met him. Lived in the west country, huge Ennio collector since LP days. I seem to recall seeing his posts on the old Michael Caletka ennio board. Dont know if he had a moniker here. Im sure Henry, Gary, Laurent, Addie, Didier and one or two of our older Ennio fans know the name. Perhaps if anyone knew him better they could tell us more. Rip david.

Bill, the name of David Bunn is completely unknown to me, even from the MSV era. He may have used a pseudo on Michael Caletka's board? Nevertheless, it's sad to read that a Morriconian fellow passed away. It shows how much time passes too fast to say the least! RIP David.

David was a very dear friend we corresponded many times over a period of 25yrs, his knowledge of Italian film music and especially Ennio Morricone was staggering.
He lived in Bridgwater in Somerset but recently moved to Glastonbury, I never met him but we emailed each other at least two or three times a week over the years.
I bought hundreds of wonderful Italian CD soundtracks from him....they were always in "mint" condition.

Bill, two passwords David used to use was"dansavio" and "davidebunn" I don't know if he used either on this board ?

David I miss you.

Thanks for the info Leo. I never like to hear when we lose one of the original member of the Ennio family!

Thanks for this info. Google translated version...

You can not say no to the pope. The Italian composer Ennio Morricone, who celebrated his 91st birthday on 10th November and said he did not want to conduct any more, changed his mind. He will conduct the Christmas Concert 2020 in the Audience Hall Nervi in ??the Vatican.

"I just could not say no," said Morricone in an interview with the Roman newspaper "Il Messaggero" (Saturday edition). The Roman Maestro is busy at the moment. So he composed a piece that his son Andrea will conduct in early 2020 at a concert on Milan Cathedral Square. At the same time he wrote music for a TV commercial.

Morricone no longer composes film music, which has made him world famous. He now devotes himself entirely to concert music. Throughout his career, the Roman collaborated with world-renowned directors such as Roman Polanski, Oliver Stone and Margarethe von Trotta. But he has also composed classical music and television tunes.

In 2007, Morricone crowned his career with an Oscar for his life's work, having previously given up hope for the coveted trophy. Five times, the Italian had been nominated, but ended up empty-handed. In 2016, at the age of 87, he received the first Oscar for his film music for Quentin Tarantino's Western "The Hateful Eight".

Thanks for the update Milan. I'm glad to read that the Maestro is still active, coping with new projects. Is the upcoming Vatican concert supposed to be made of film music?

To celebrate a bit more, here are a couple of pages from the new Universal box:

https://www.facebook.com/EcoutezLeCinema/photos/a.133707026679135/2496986813684466/?type=3&theater

As you can see, this mammoth edition is available since the 29th of November. It's indeed a great joy to leaf through it.
If you can read and understand French, here's an article dedicated to it:

Enjoy!
