But, she didn't have the pop background of the other synth specialists . ? Like rock stars such as Maurice Jarre? Bad example. He was a symphonic composer. My point is that a classical background did not keep Maurice Jarre from being highly sought-after as a composer of electronic scores. He must have composed around 8-10 electronic scores in the 1980s. And that's just Jarre. Goldsmith, Barry, Poledouris, Horner, Scott, Silvestri, Kamen, Jones, Fenton, etc. all came from classical backgrounds and composed electronic scores. It's true that many filmmakers in the early 1980s assumed that only "electronic specialists" (Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, Giorgio Moroder, etc.) could create synthesizer scores. But established composers who traditionally wrote orchestral scores soon proved they could do electronic scores which were every bit as good. I'd say the fact that Carlos was largely ignored by filmmakers had more to do with her living a somewhat reclusive lifestyle, far from Hollywood. It's regrettable in any case.

Carlos was creative & unique, I use to wonder why she gave-up movies after Tron that was a fine end too scoring, yea, she equalized with her adaptions work her ambient stuff too & Synth-Bach's etc, those album styles are great, "Switched on Brandenburg's" is one of my fav's & "Beauty in the Beast" & "Digital Moonscapes" are both cool visions both have great feeling too of fun & great energies that's a different soundscape to my usual palette but I thoroughly enjoy em. Happy Birthday.. 80th, Wendy Carlos. Thanks have many more. Tron was not Wendy's last film work though; she worked on at least two more feature-lenght films in the '80s and '90s - 'Split second' (1991 - score cancelled midway through) and 'Woundings' (1998). The.selections from WOUNDINGS, included on RLT are terrific. Is the film available on DVD? Had no idea after those years not scoring, similar-case too Delia Derbyshire this & that works, only thing was I didn't know Delia died i was going to attend Dr Who function until someone here pointed it out. I tend to lose focus with some composers.
