oh no another modern guy ruining a classic...oh wait.actually one of the best scores of 2019. like maleficent 2 full-on james newton howard and a bit broughton.100% orchestral, romantic and fun.even the action (except rat) is fun with shades of powell, giacchino and trevor rabin.the carriage chase is fantastic.highly recommended !
I didn't even know they were making a live action version of this, but I guess it's just a matter of time before all classic Disney movies have their (less-than-stellar) live action counterpart.
In any case, I'm intrigued by this, and I'll give it a whirl -- although I prefer Trapanese when he's exploring more electronic textures.
Just curious. Does the new film include the songs from the animated feature? The Siamese Cat Song is probably not Woke enough. The Bela Note will probably not be sung by the Italian chef, too stereotypical. He’s a Tramp is probably too something. Peggy Lee wrote an amazing song score. The whole thing will be watered down. I’ll have to go back and enjoy the animated classic, the first animated feature in CinemaScope.

I haven't seen L&TT yet but from my recollection they either omitted the song or repurposed it into something completely different.
I have a feeling this was supposed to get a theatrical release too. But Disney decided it needed more new content for the start of Disney +.
Listened it a few times already and it's one of the best orchestral soundtracks of this year and the best Joseph Trapanese work for me. Classical Disney sound and greate new themes. Now "Main Title (Bella Notte)" is one of the greatest opening themes of Disney movies, no doubt.
Alas, it didn't do that much for me. It's pleasant enough, but also rather generic on occasion. At least it shows off Trapanese's versatility, but as I said earlier -- I prefer him when he's more electronic.
