The search engine on this site was working great for a few months. I was finding threads that I never could locate before. But now it has suddenly gone totally out of commission.

Since the last shutdown i think lukas said something about they were aware of and working on a few glitches, Bob. Presumably search engine is one of them.

Use Google instead. Type your search parameters in speech marks, followed by

site:filmscoremonthly.com

I find it much more effective than the FSM search engine.

The following might be good news or bad news... Right now, when I try to use the Search Engine, an "error" message comes up. That could mean that it's under (re)construction at this very moment. Either that or it's completely deceased.

Yes, I considered making a thread about this myself, but wanted to wait a couple of weeks -- just in case Lukas & co. were actually working to fix it.

The search engine worked fine before the server update a month ago or so (well, it's always been a bit wonky -- not being able to find recent threads, for example -- but at least it worked reasonably well), then a couple of weeks after the server update, all kinds of hits popped up that were more or less relevant. And then now, most recently, it doesn't work at all. So that's the progression there.

I hope it gets fixed, because I'm 100% dependent on it in my use of this forum. Meanwhile, I'm using the Google alternative.

This forum is just *so* 1997 anyway. Maybe it's time to move on.

Forget the internal search engine. "Google" a title or phrase followed by "FSM" and a link for the appropriate thread appears. That's how I just found "The Elephant Queen" thread.

I can't' find some threads that I knew existed even using this method. I'm wondering if some older threads have gotten lost.

Which threads? When they did board maintenance a month ago we lost about 24hrs worth of posts. Did you try different search engines? While I said "Google" I used that as a verb. I tend to use Duck Duck Go personally.

These are old threads. I think they are gone.

I find this forum far more user-friendly than those phpBB3 forums with a tiny font and spidery text.

How well I remember.
That incident broke my heart. That 24-hour period contained some of my most amazing, Shakespearean contributions.

Couldn't dream of leaving you, loverboy. You know, "mankind's finest" and all of that.

Or not...
