- Kilted! (?)

What will Chris McEneany think of this, eh MacMillan?

My goodness, Jan from THE BRADY BUNCH, Laurie from THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY, "Marcus Welby" himself in a period wig and stache, a young John De Lancie (Q from STAR TREK TNG) appearing at 55:23 and a charming Elmer Bernstein score? I'm in Heaven! Who could ask for more?

Never knew Elmer did this. How cool! Thanks for posting James!

I had NO IDEA this existed! Awesome! How do we get some label to do a score release?

I have to echo Zooba's and Yavar's sentiments. This film was a complete revelation to me, and with an extra bonus of a Bernstein-in-his-prime score. I'll definitely have to give this 3-hour miniseries a watch

The DVD is available from Amazon. Checking the credits, it was made in 1978 for NBC by Universal, but it was not part of the "NBC Best Sellers" series, which ran only for the 1976-1977 season, and for which Elmer Bernstein contributed his Emmy-nominated score for CAPTAINS AND THE KINGS (1976).

I like to look and see if, as Henry Mancini's autobiography title asks, "Did They Mention The Music?"
One Amazon reviewer, Christine wrote: "This is another version for my library which I will treasure. The colors and landscapes are just beautiful and the snow may be fake but it's lovely! And most of the time I didn't find the violin music intrusive--sometimes I found it soothing. Great movie!"

I gotta hear this score! (I love violins!)

Not to mention TV's the final third of TV's architect trio* as Meg!

*David Vincent, Mike Brady and Alyce Keaton.

Which didn't keep ITV here in the UK from showing miniseries under that banner into the 1980s...

I dunno, Zardoz, but she's a bit on the thin side. And that is definitely not the MacMillan tartan!!

Zooba, Yavar, Ron, I was surprised that this title was a surprise to you all. Years ago, there was actually an "unmentionable" that contained about fifteen-to-twenty minutes of the music in very poor sound. It did not include the main title/end title sequence however.

Now, in recent weeks I notice some enlightened soul has contributed those sequences to Youtube -

Has a saccharine TV movie sound to it. And that photo is obviously a man.
The oft ignored Adolph Deustch did a decent score for the 1949 feature film.

You could ask for Ann Dusenberry (from JAWS 2). And you'd get it!
