SEASON 1:

"Charlie's Angels" (AKA: the pilot)
Part 1: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x52f4jf
Part 2: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x52f5cj

Highlights:

Part 1:
  • 0:00 in.
  • 6:40 in.
  • 12:28 in.
  • 17:45 in.
  • 20:44 in.
  • 22:12 in.
  • 23:07 in.
  • 26:42 in.
  • 30:52 in.
  • 32:17 in.

    Part 2:
  • 30:20 in.
  • 11:25 in.
  • 19:17 in.
  • 21:29 in.
  • 23:00 in.
  • 27:06 in.
  • 30:24 in.
  • 37:03 in. And the end credits music that immediately follows it.

    That's nearly every single cue.

The pilot score is covered in suites #1 and #2.

    "Hellride"
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x505usd
    https://ok.ru/video/1652328041056

    Highlights:
  • 10:11 in.
  • 15:20 in.
  • 36:09 in.
  • 37:49 in.
  • 44:18/46:07 in.

This score is covered in suite #3.

    "The Mexican Connection"
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x50h0sa
    https://ok.ru/video/254595435047

    Highlights:
  • 1:13 in.
  • 19:36 in.
  • 39:30 in.
  • 41:55 in.
  • 43:18 in.
  • About 47:22 in.

This score is covered in suite #3.

    "Night of the Strangler"
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x50h0yh

    Highlights:
  • 1:15 in.
  • 1:56 in.
  • 13:46 in.
  • 15:37 in.
  • 18:45 in.
  • 22:28 in.
  • 26:03 in.
  • About 27:40/29:13 in.
  • 40:52 in.
  • 46:12 in.

This score is covered in suite #3.

    "Angels in Chains"
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x50h19o
    https://ok.ru/video/4041081817741

    Highlights:
  • 1:24 in.
  • 7:55 in.
  • 9:03 in.
  • 10:29 in.
  • 14:08 in.
  • 16:03 in.
  • 21:24 in.
  • 26:57 in.
  • 36:46 in.
  • 37:41 in.
  • 38:47 in. About ten or so second is very very similar to a cue from an episode of "Knight Rider" that Stu Phillips scored. I mean, beyond a passing coincidence, because of percussion choices and one in particular used and the writing that immediately follows.
  • 40:42 in.
  • 41:39 in.
  • 43:47 in.
  • 44:43 in.

That may be every single cue I cited (well, except the short closing one), so I might as well say the complete score should be released.

The first quarter of the score is covered in suite #3.
The rest of the score is covered in suite #4.

    "Target: Angels"
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x50no7n
    https://ok.ru/video/4149163854477

    Highlights:
  • 1:15 in.
  • 6:23 in.
  • 11:55 in.
  • 14:44 in.
  • 16:32 in.
  • 23:34 in.
  • 34:15 in.
  • 42:50 in.*
  • 44:19 in.
  • 45:54 in.

That's nearly all of the score.

    * = and so the bad guys decided, I better unwrap the sticks of dynamite and make sure they are still dynamite. In broad daylight out in the open.

This score is covered in suite #4.

    "The Killing Kind"
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x50nory

    Highlights:
  • 2:42 in.
  • 23:25 in.
  • 26:03 in.
  • 37:19 in.
  • 39:33 in.
  • 40:55 in.
  • 45:51 in.

Maybe not those last two cues on a set of season one scoring.

    "To Kill an Angel"
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x50np3v

    Highlights:
  • 1:14 in.
  • 2:22 in.*
  • 5:33 in.
  • 12:53 in.
  • 18:02 in.
  • 20:51 in.
  • 24:58 in.
  • 39:03 in.
  • 41:13 in. And the cue after the commercial break.

    * = I'll take that resume off his hands.

I love the music of this series and I'm curious why there wasn't an LP released at the time, especially given that it was the arguably the most popular TV show in America for a couple of years & it seems like it would've sold quite well. I'm even more surprised that there still hasn't been a release of this music. A CD or two of highlights would be great.

I remember a lot of variations of the main title theme throughout the series, arranged for different styles - bossa nova, shake, funk, disco, jazz, big band, a string-laden "love theme" arrangement (my favorite), a propulsive "action sequence" arrangement, etc. Great stuff.

  • 42:13 in.

    "Angels on Wheels"
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x516upm

    Highlights:
  • 1:13 in.
  • About 5:10 in.
  • 17:59 in.
  • 22:58 in.
  • 42:45 in.
  • 45:47 in.

And the country-flavored bar source music cue I forgot to cite.

This episode reminded me there was actually a TV series called "The Roller Girls" (1978). Six episodes long.

    "Angel Trap"
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x516uyx

    Highlights:
  • 1:13 in.
  • 15:52 in. Just a tad over six minutes long.

On a set of season one scoring, I'm not sure I'd include any of these cues.

    "The Big Tap-Out"
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x51ghct

    Highlights:
  • 1:13 in.
  • 8:22 in. And the cue after the commercial break.

Remember when you had to ask for an operator for certain kinds of calls?

On a set of season one scoring, I'm not sure I'd include any of these cues.

    "Dirty Business"
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x51gihk

  • 16:26 in. And the cue after the commercial break.
  • 20:20 in.
  • 23:38 in.
  • 30:59 in. One of the rare cues in this series, so far, to use a waterphone.
  • 40:23 in. Over three minutes long. And the cue after the commercial break.
  • 45:46 in.
  • 48:02 in.

    "The Vegas Connection"
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x51mkhz

    Highlights:
  • 1:13 in.

What if ... what if ... Charlie was really a secret alter ego, or twin, of Blake Carrington?

Charlie: "Would you believe that's my plumber?"
    "You're plumber?"
Charlie: "Yes. She's been cleaning my pipes the last few days. You should see my electrician."

    * = A lack luster getaway, though maybe original/semi original at the time. Maybe I'm spoiled, but the best wheelchair getaway I've seen is from an episode of "Nash Bridges", where they are trying to detain a man who turns out to be in a wheelchair; he bursts out a building in one of those ultra-fancy Special Olympics type wheelchairs and he speeds out of there (footage not sped up) like a fast car and it's not even remotely possible to keep up on foot and have to get in their vehicles to try and catch up to him.

Well, this two-parter score certainly makes up for episodes with not as much scoring to take away; now there's an abundance!

Now I recall where I've heard that opening of the theme for this two-parter before: the "Gunsmoke" theme! (a series, which by the way, Ferguson scored an episode of)

  • 37:40/38:56 in.
  • 41:05 in.

    * = Yes, I'd commit score blasphemy and chop off the stuff before and just used the similar bit for a suite. I'd have to figure out a way to arrange them so it would work. Crossfading may be needed. Some rare cases, crossfading is a good idea.

    That's nearly all the score.

    * = Holy fuck, that actor got hit by a car. That didn't look like a stunt, it looked like the driver didn't know where he was for sure behind the wall and he didn't know where they'd enter, and he got hit and they used the take.

  • 5:04 in.
  • 23:44 in.

  • 35:58 in. Joining a cue already in progress.
  • 42:48 in.

42:10 in: Wait, wait, wait -- that was way too clever for "Charlie's Angels". Coating the glass instead of putting something in the drink.

    "Dancin' Angels"
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6oxsfg

    Highlights:
  • 13:27 in. Source music.

    Highlights:
  • 25:33 in.
  • 27:27 in.
  • 28:40 in.
  • 33:10 in.
  • 46:46 in.

On a set of season four scoring, I'd probably not include any of these.

    "Toni's Boys"
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6oxsxs

    Highlights:
  • 1:14 in.
  • 3:54 in.

  • 9:21 in.
  • 17:02 in. The funky source music.
  • 27:44 in.
  • 36:14 in.
  • 38:37 in. Am I the only one who imagined hearing the sound effect from "The Bionic Man"?
  • 44:01 in. Over two minutes of brass and percussion-lead chase music.
  • 46:35 in. And the short cue after the commercial break.

That's the majority of the episode score.

    Out-of-context quote:
"I wrestled the sucker down and gave him a big ol' kiss."

    Back-door pilot for a spin-off series which didn't happen.
I can see why it failed: All the males leads are generic, have no presence and when you first see them, they all kind of blend in. "The A-Team" got it right: four distinctly different people with presence.

(Note to me [that's what these are; skip all of them yourselves]: 35:35)

"One Love... Two Angels: Part 1"

  • 43:03 in.
  • 46:07 in. And the cue after the commercial break*.

Patrick Duffy guest stars in both parts.

    * = Shit like this just pisses me off. Not being able to stop does not account for jerking the steering wheel around like a dumb bastard.

"One Love... Two Angels: Part 2"
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6oxt3l

    Highlights:
  • 4:00 in. The same scenes were left off in the prior episode, are rescored for some reason*.
  • 7:05 in. Some romantic material.
  • 11:15 in. Some romantic material.
  • 14:36 in.
  • 24:06 in.
  • 26:57 in. Joining a cue already in progress.
  • 32:36 in+.
  • 41:11 in.**
  • 44:12 in.

    * = And I think you know why this pisses me off.

+ = LOL, did you see what the extra did? Did a double take on her.

** = Are you sure he's dead? Did you check the shower? ;-)

    * = Did you see that one pigeon who just waddled to the side while all the others took off? He gives zero fucks about potentially being ran over. I've encountered some birds like that here; I have to go around them 'cause I don't want to run them over.

CinemaSins voice: 5:19 in: "He survives this."
    And also: CinemaSins voice: "Hahahahahahahaha!!!"

    Highlights:
  • 2:18 in.
  • 12:53 in. And the cue after the commercial break.
  • 20:25 in. Funky car chase music. Over three minutes long (though only about two minutes is the funky stuff).
  • 26:00 in.
  • 27:15 in.
  • 28:51 in.

Hey, she's in Vegas. Should have had a Dan Tanna "Vega$" crossover.

    "Mr. Galaxy"
    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6oxuit

    Highlights:
  • 7:35 in.
  • 22:20 in.

    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6oxulf

    Highlights:
  • 1:12 in.
  • 2:10 in.
  • About 16:50 in.
  • 22:47 in.
  • 25:05 in.
  • 40:48 in.
  • 47:31 in.

And that's all the series. There were no TV movies.

There was no official release and no promos I know of (though I imagine FYC Emmy promos were sent out).

In 2011 a new "Charlie's angels" series came out, but it had a short season and was cancelled. Jeff Russo scored the pilot, the score was rejected, and Louis Febre did a new score and the rest of the episodes.
There was no official release and no promos I know of for this show either. No cues on either composers' respective websites.

There were also two crappy remake films not worth mentioning.
