It's always nice to see Harrison Ford but that digital dog looked weird. Why didn't they just use a normal, living dog like filmmakers have used to do for almost 100 years?
It is irritating and sad to see that they had to CGI the dogĀ“s expressions (or even the whole dog?). Takes me out of the story immediately. Poor Harrison Ford, having to put up with this kind of filmmaking now.
I'm glad to see senior citizen Harrison Ford get a leading part. I like the story, and this particular story lends itself to a GREAT musical canvas, and Powell is a perfect choice. I honestly think that a lot of the movie will have a real dog with the CGI dog filling in here and there for humor or extremely dangerous stunts. I'm keeping my glass half full on this movie.

I'm with you, Joanie; it is a great story, and it does lend itself to great music. I hope you are right that they used a real dog for some of the scenes.
I remember not too long ago here I had the idiot word "agism" thrown at me for daring to actually give somebody's age in Hollywood. Well, it's great to know that it's safe to just flat out call them senior citizens.
Now we can get back to saying they're angry and trying to smack young whipper snappers on the butts for walking on their lawns. Damn yutes.
Geezes, talk about watering out what is a great book by Jack London. That looks absolutely dreadful!
I love Ford, but I'll skip this easily. The score could be good, though.
The book isn't very cinematic and film versions always juice it up with action.
WHITE FANG was an excellent adaptation. But that was a film that could have benefited from judicial use of cgi; the bear attack scene was poorly done because they USED.real animals who clearly were not interacting
Watching a trailer where a dog does 100 things a real dog would and could never do and see the comments here asking why this is not a real dog in the film.
Goes back to watching Spider-Man Far From Home where the hero is almost entirely rendered in CGI and wondering why no one made a peep...

That's one of the things why I don't like superhero movies.
Imagine asking an actor to play all his scenes with an imaginary leading lady (or even a masculine co-star) to be added later by CGI. Would any actor worth his salt put up with it?
