I admit to enjoying the films by The Coens that are NOT critical or financial successes, as compared to their award winning films. I don't know why these films are more 'enjoyable' overall, than their others, but sometimes these films are looked upon as 'unloved stepchildren' by critics and audiences, but not by me. Carter Burwell's music is in all of them, contributing greatly, and Roger Deakins in 2 of the three listed here, the third by Bruno Delbonnel who photographed (exceedingly well), 'The Ballad of Buster Scruggs'. (I thought it was Deakins work, until I saw the end credits and it was Delbonnel). 'The Hudsucker Proxy', 1994. Perhaps it was the title that threw off the audiences? I love this film! Here's the invention of The Hula-Hoop scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ng3XHPdexNM In addition, the great Charles Durning scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FPuyMHo2N8 'Hail, Caesar!',2016 Overflowing with ideas and over-ripeness. Here's a scene with a genuinely funny Ralph Fiennes as an exasperated film director: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YAclFXGGpM 'The Ballad of Buster Scruggs', 2018. I've seen this twice, inventive, fun and entertaining spins on the old west. The script is quite brilliant, but audiences stayed away. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2PyxzSH1HM

I think Intolerable Cruelty is one of their underappreciated gems. Really funny and some relevant points about relationships.

WRONG BOARD! So throw in some references to Burwell... Glad to see some Hudsucker love here. One of my all-time favorites.

I think Intolerable Cruelty is one of their underappreciated gems. Really funny and some relevant points about relationships. Interesting; this title is the ONLY one of their films I've not seen. Since there's quite some talk about it here, I will surely have to see it whenever I get the chance. This is the film with the actress from 'Chicago', right? I've forgotten her name at the moment'
