Don't know if this has been posted before, but I happened upon this fascinating piece of film music history on Youtube -- a "behind the scenes" look at how a score is recorded, featuring Elmer Bernstein's Hawaii sessions...
It's quite remarkable to hear the narrator reveal "It took Mr. Bernstein one year from the time of the pen to the downbeat". An allotment of a whole year to write a score (write a score).
So refreshing to have serious attention paid to a score, at some length, rather than just the usual twaddle from the stars about how they conceived their characters or whatever.
