You conveniently omitted the part about my exotica album. I will send you one anyway, in case you are short on drink coasters.

Missed that. Is it in your profile? Don't see it...

Lastly, here is Baxter's piece for everyone to hear and draw their own conclusions.

I have no dog in the fight. But I don't hear E.T. Theme in that video at all. Maybe the last few seconds? I dunno, I'm not good at this game.

I guess the specific thematic statement from 00:38 to 00:42 on "The Passions" piece - if one is to do some serious reaching - kind of, sort of, maybe sounds like the E.T. "flying" theme. But it also sounds like a total coincidence. I'm surprised this was taken to court.

For the record, I love both Les Baxter (the exotica albums, the scores, the songs, everything, including "The Passions") and John Williams.

Ah yes, the feels. Whoever directed that will have a career designated as the 27th Next Spielberg. The director just has to find one's own The Towner.

It'd be nice of E.T. to visit more than once a generation, maybe throw in a space sweet potato pie in the potluck...

That's assuming his planet didn't get blown up by the First Order. wink

Once again, it's come down to whether a few notes constitute an entire theme's ripoff. Any judge would be wise to dismiss such a case, lest art itself stagnate.

    That's sweet!

Spielberg has been adament about not doing a sequel to E.T., so I guess that's about as close as we'll get.

    You would be wrong...

It is all over google..Drew Barrymore, Kathy Kennedy, and Spielberg ..and others talking about that Sequel, and his a Production Team At Amblin ...Coming up with Ideas for a Sequel to ET..through out the years. Spielberg has said...he did think about it, but decided no so far!

If I understand correctly what you are saying, I would agree. I posted this to bring out those nostalgic, convivial, warm fuzzy feelings “most” people feel by seeing E.T. and Elliott meeting once again, and by hearing Williams celebratory iconic music. I do wish the Baxter-Williams issue had been placed in another topic instead of in this thread.

Oh well, some of us have enjoyed the obvious and very warmhearted sentimentality of this ad.

No, it cannot be that way...the usual suspects have to pee their bs onto others here. We all know the story from Christmas Past...Thought that issue wasn’t settled, and even brought the Hank Mancini angle...Whoa is me. Failure. They have 100% ruin FSM. Everyone with a noggin, left. Haters Hate..are still here. Maybe if Kendall Lucas or Lucas Kendall produced a secret FSM2, and didn’t tell THEM..they wouldn’t show up...

Barring Schindler's, I reckon this is Williams most thoughtful effort the bond between Elliott & ET especially as ET fell ill then good health was the core & Williams beauty really let-go a few different emotions that's my favourite part & of course the end scene had splendid colours.
