FRIDAY, DECEMBER 6

STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER---new tv spot released for the sequel.

HOMELAND---trailer released for Season 8.

LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXFZ4fEPRJ8

THE MANDALORIAN---Jon Favreau commented on Baby Yoda, “He’s mostly a puppet. When it’s CG, we try to make him obey the same physical laws that he would if he were a puppet. I think a lot of times CG makes itself too obvious where you don’t create parameters creatively that allow the character to keep the same identity and charm.”
He added, “We’ll learn more about him over the course of the season. I think what’s great about what George [Lucas] created is that Yoda proper, the character that we grew up watching, was always shrouded in mystery, and that was what made him so archetypal and so mythic. We know who he is based on his behavior and what he stands for, but we don’t know a lot of details about where he comes from or his species. I think that’s why people are so curious about this little one of the same species.”

HONEY, I SHRUNK THE KIDS---Joe Johnston is in negotiations to return to direct the Disney+ tv series based on the movie. The tv series will focus on Josh Gad as Nick Szalinski, the adult son of Rick Moranis' character, Wayne Szalinski.

SUPERMAN---JJ Abrams denied reports that he has talked to Warner Bros. about directing the next Superman movie, “I have not had one official conversation with Warners at all about this, but people have asked me this question and I know that we, Bad Robot, we recently signed a deal with WarnerMedia, we will begin in earnest all discussions about what’s coming next.”

VENOM 2---Stephen Graham (BOARDWALK EMPIRE, THE IRISHMAN) has joined the sequel cast in an undisclosed role.
Also, producer Matt Tolmach said the sequel might be R-rated, "I think what JOKER does is it tells you that you can succeed. For a very long time, that was the narrative. And DEADPOOL sort of wrestled that to the turf, and then LOGAN, but for a long time, that was considered totally forbidden. … So you know, I think it’s the greatest thing in the world that R-rated movies are being embraced by massive audiences. And it just means that there are more opportunities for that kind of storytelling.”

ISB---Kevin Costner is the co-writer/executive producer of this ABC pilot about special agents of the National Parks Service's Investigative Services Branch, who investigate crimes in the Pacific West region.

TRIVIA---since tomorrow is December 7, the 78th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, this is trivia from TORA! TORA! TORA!
In TORA! TORA! TORA!, on December 7, 1941, the destroyer USS Ward, commanded by LCDR William Outerbridge, sank a Japanese midget submarine at the entrance to Pearl Harbor which led to the first US-caused casualties of World War II. On December 7, 1944, the third anniversary of the Ward's sinking the submarine, the Ward was struck by a Japanese kamikaze bomber. The crippled destroyer's crew abandoned ship, and the Ward was sunk by the destroyer USS O'Brien---which was commanded by Capt. William Outerbridge.

In TORA! TORA! TORA!, on December 7, 1941, the destroyer USS Ward was commanded by LCDR William Outerbridge, played by Jerry Fogel.

Ironically, on December 7, 1944, the third anniversary of the Ward's sinking the Japanese submarine, the Ward was fatally struck by a Japanese kamikaze bomber and was then sunk by the destroyer USS O'Brien commanded by Capt. William Outerbridge.

Is that another CGI Carrie at about 0:12 for SW?

I don't think so. They promised they wouldn't CGI "Carrie" in this film. But, they did repurposed unused video footage of her from the previous two films. Its speculated her clothing is actually CGI since its later in the story and she wouldn't have the same outfits on as the previous films. That and of course they had to digitally cut her out from the background and put in her appropriate settings for the new film. Good chance all her scenes were green screened anyway so no big deal.

I can imagine Disney will re-purpose every frame they have of Carrie Fisher in their archives, Sol. But there must be a limit to the permutations that are possible with that archive. It would not surprise me if they have made bigger strides in photo realism since that rather phoney "hope" attempt a few years back, and just won't say it isn't her. There is a certain level of controversy courted over using imagery of some real person when that person no longer has any rights over any sort of public domain projection of them for the purposes of dramatic license. Remember that Olivia de Havilland was recently overruled when she actually 'testified' that a production specifying her thoughts, words and actions was completely inaccurate and totally misrepresentative of her as a person.

Baby Yoda

I'd say its all getting a little stupid now, but I think it's been that way for quite a while now in the SW universe.

And didn't "Venom" bomb at the BO? Or direct to video?
