There are so many obvious ones, so I'll list one that probably won't be mentioned by anyone else:

from The Lion in Winter: "The Herb Garden"

Mostly choral, it is a reflective piece that is almost a dialogue between the male and female singers. The melody gets me every time. Though I really love the way Barry arranged the chorus in this, I also get the same emotional wallop whenever I hear the jazzier version--known as "The Lion in Winter, Part Two," the flip side of the 45 of "The Lion in Winter, Part One." Part One is the upbeat pop version with Alan Haven's improvisational organ mastery that has re-surfaced on many CBS JB re-issues. Part Two is the re-working of "The Herb Garden" and also features Alan Haven and a small chorus, but in a seductive late-night JB mode. I keep waiting for Part Two to make its CD debut. I think Geoff Leonard wanted to include it on Themependium but he had a restriction of one track per film, if I remember correctly.

The opening music by John Williams from the first episode of Lost In Space, beginning with Smith's Entrance, and continuing for about 30 minutes. This is the essence of what the Lost In Space TV series was all about, and it is my all-time favorite music by John Williams.
If Jonathan Harris's depiction of Dr. Smith is too silly for you, simply forget about his character, and enjoy this wonderful suite of music that truly enables you to be Lost In Space.

Seeing and hearing it performed by Ennio himself was a privilege I will never forget, being sat with Sergio Leone's biographer Chris Frayling and his wife for it was the icing on the cake.

Lucky you, Paul. I'm full of envy.

You know Joan, it was one of those moments almost out of a comedy, where I just happened to look to my right and there they were. She next to me, with Chris at her other side. First I did a double take, and then I slowly turned my head to the left to tell my friend who was there. Whispering to him, my eyes darting left to right. I hadn't long since read his Something to Do With Death, Leone biography. And I'm getting his making of Once Upon A Time in the West this Christmas.

His wife was really tapping her foot to the GBU theme, and Mr Frayling and I traded comments on the two pieces, the Ecstasy of Gold being an unlisted extra. We agreed the theme was just a little too staccato with not enough sound fx, but EoG was a knockout!

It ended very nicely with goodbyes and all. A very rewarding evening I have to say.
