This is a theory

The facts
John Barry almost never makes a film cue that fades out
The gondola chase fades out and an classical insert is heard before returning to Bond theme for a close (gunbarrel statement)

I believe this

Before Lewis gilbert indserted the classical theme as humor Barry’s gondola cue continued

As Music heard during the ride through ‘the plaza’ the Music would probbably be a return to the same version of Bond theme also heard in free fall sequence

I wish we could know all this by having the remainder of the Bond scores on CD!

It saddens me and others that expanded Bon scores are not up. when will this be changed. Labels hear us please.

You a Need to Contact Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson, and Mrs. John Barry.

You have a better chance of winning 10 Oscars ..than seeing all Barry Scores Expanded for Release!

I wonder why Mrs. Barry is reluctant to release anything. From what I've read throughout the years, she seems to be a big roadblock.

As I understand she thinks that only Barry's masterpieces should be released.
So if something doesn't fit "masterpiece" criteria, she doesn't allow to use Barry's personal tapes, which could be (sadly) the only source for some obscure titles.
Or maybe labels simply didn't contact her, but I doubt about this - our beloved labels would use any possibility if they can.

The expanded soundtracks are out there-just not official releases.If the licensees refuse to release the music, who can blame fans for taking matters into their own hands.

The bootlegs out there are terrible.

None of these bootleggers have got the original master recordings so they're always some combination of album tracks plus Silva Screen tracks, or they're recorded off the DVD with music and effects, or they're synthetically recreated, or they're ripped off the DVD back channels to minimise voice and then processed to try and remove the sound effects.

We need proper releases.

I will happily plunk down my money for an expanded Diamonds Are Forever, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Moonraker, and others. These scores have been gathering dust for nearly 50 years, and it's time to dig them up and give them a proper expansion and restoration.

I think Diamonds Are Forever has already been expanded as much as possible.

A complete, remastered Moonraker, Octopussy and A View to a Kill would be absolutely wonderful. There's a decent album out for all the others really. Whilst perhaps not complete, the majority are not far off.

Dr. No - not a lot of particularly great music in the film anyway;
FRWL - the album is fine;
GF - album needs tweaking;
Thunderball - album cues need editing and putting in proper film order, longer suites need cutting up but the material is almost all there;
YOLT - again, the album is fine;
OHMSS - album is fine;
DAF - album is fine;
LALD - album is fine;
TMWTGG - lots missing, but it isn't really vintage Barry tbph;
TSWLM - lots missing, and sound quality poor - but purely on personal preference, I couldn't care less about Hamlisch's disco cowbells. Film versions of Bond 77 etc would be appreciated, but not fussed personally.
Moonraker - a personal grail. I think this is Barry's best 007 score and deserves the full works. Complete, remastered, everything. It's magnificent throughout.
FYEO - the album presentation is all over the place, but all the good bits are present - I think really only the climax at St. Cyrils is the bit missing? A corrected remaster would be good.
Octopussy - another magnificent Barry masterpiece missing loads of wonderful music. Full works please.
AVTAK - again, missing bits, sound iffy. Full works needed.
TLD - album is in the wrong order, but almost everything is present and in lovely quality. 2nd favourite Bond score from Barry.
LTK - again, a personal choice here - not a lot of particularly good music, but I could see why many want this one expanding.
Goldeneye - personally love the score in the film, but tank chase apart it is unlistenable on CD imho.
TND - waiting on La La Land
TWINE - as good as we'll get
DAD - as TWINE
CR - dreadful film and score, not fussed
QOS - as CR
Skyfall - worst film in the series, even worse score
Spectre - score might as well not have been written

TL;DR - three Barry masterpieces need the full works, and a couple of others need tweaked reissues...

IMVHO...

I think Diamonds Are Forever has already been expanded as much as possible.

As I understand, complete version of song was recorded, but never released.
Plus Bassey recorded Italian version of song. I doubt that it ever be released official, but who knows?..

So in any case, this two songs is great reason why to buy this album once more wink

Agree with most of your opinions on the priorities, with some few deviations as noted below:

Dr. No - not a lot of particularly great music in the film anyway [AGREE. TAPES SUPPOSEDLY MISSING FOR THE SCORES BEFORE THUNDERBALL, BUT I AGREE IT IS NOT A GREAT SCORE APPART FROM INTRODUCING THE BOND THEME];

FRWL - the album is fine [AGREE. TAPES SUPPOSEDLY MISSING FOR THE SCORES BEFORE THUNDERBALL, BUT I AGREE THE ALBUM IS FINE AS IT IS ALMOST COMPLETE AND INCLUDES ALL THE HIGHLIGHTS];

GF - album needs tweaking [TAPES SUPPOSEDLY MISSING FOR THE SCORES BEFORE THUNDERBALL, BUT WHAT IS AVAILABLE IS FINE AS IT INCLUDES ALMOST ALL THE SCORE - EXCEPT A BANJO TRACK I BELIEVE];

Thunderball - album cues need editing and putting in proper film order, longer suites need cutting up but the material is almost all there; [THIS ONE IS STILL MISSING SOME GOOD MUSIC, SPECIALLY FIONA GIVING A RIDE TO BOND - WOULD LIKE A COMPLETE 2-CD SET]

YOLT - again, the album is fine; [AGREE - all the expanded Bonds would be better with chronological reordering of tracks, but this is not a priority over the still unavailable expansions]

OHMSS - album is fine; [AGREE]

DAF - album is fine; [AGREE - COMPLETE UNDERSCORE INCLUDED. WOULD LIKE TO HEAR THE LONGER VERSION OF THE TITLE SONG HOWEVER THAT WAS MENTIONED BY LUKAS]

LALD - album is fine; [AGREE - COMPLETE UNDERSCORE INCLUDED AND GREAT SOUND]

TMWTGG - lots missing, but it isn't really vintage Barry tbph; [I LIKE THIS SCORE A LOT AND WOULD LIKE IT EXPANDED - IT IS A BRIDGE BETWEEN PREVIOUS SCORES ENERGY AND THE MORE SLOW/ROMANTIC SOUND BARRY ADOPTED FORWARDS. ALSO LIKE HOW HE REORCHESTRATED THE BOND THEME FOR ROGER MOORE WITH STRINGS - BARRY CLEARLY ADOPTED A SPECIFIC SOUND FOR EACH ACTOR PLAYING BOND: GUITTAR FOR CONERY, SYNTHS FOR LAZEMBY, STRINGS FOR MOORE AND DRUM BEATS FOR DALTON]

TSWLM - lots missing, and sound quality poor - but purely on personal preference, I couldn't care less about Hamlisch's disco cowbells. Film versions of Bond 77 etc would be appreciated, but not fussed personally. [DISAGREE. ACTUAL UNDERSCORE COMPLETELY MISSING AND POOR SOUND MAKES THIS ONE A PRIORITY FOR EXPANSION IMO]

Moonraker - a personal grail. I think this is Barry's best 007 score and deserves the full works. Complete, remastered, everything. It's magnificent throughout. [FULLY AGREE. HOPE THOSE TAPES ARE FOUND SOME DAY]

FYEO - the album presentation is all over the place, but all the good bits are present - I think really only the climax at St. Cyrils is the bit missing? A corrected remaster would be good. [SOME OTHER BITS MISSING LIKE THE INSTRUMENTAL VERSION OF THE THEME FOR THE CARRIAGE SCENE. BUT NOT A PRIORITY FOR ME AS THE EXPANSION IS ALREADY EXCELLENT]

Octopussy - another magnificent Barry masterpiece missing loads of wonderful music. Full works please. [AGREE - WHAT IS MISSING IS EXCELLENT AND WOULD CONTRIBUTE TO MORE DINAMIC LISTENING EXPERIENCE]

AVTAK - again, missing bits, sound iffy. Full works needed. [AGREE. LOTS OF GREAT MUSIC MISSING AND THE POOR SOUND NEEDS AN UPGRADE]

TLD - album is in the wrong order, but almost everything is present and in lovely quality. 2nd favourite Bond score from Barry. [SOME GOOD BITS STILL MISSING. WOULD LOVE TO HEAR THE RUMMORED FIRST TAKE ON THE GUNBARREL WITH THE BOND THEME WITH THE SYNTH BEATS]

LTK - again, a personal choice here - not a lot of particularly good music, but I could see why many want this one expanding. [DISAGREE. A PERSONAL FAVORITE AMONG THE NON-BARRY SCORES AND MY CURRENT TOP PRIORITY FOR A COMPLETE RELEASE. HOPE LLL CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN]

Goldeneye - personally love the score in the film, but tank chase apart it is unlistenable on CD imho. [NOT A VERY GOOD ONE. BUT SOME INTERESTING BITS MISSING. I'D WELCOME AN EXPANSION]

TND - waiting on La La Land

TWINE - as good as we'll get

DAD - as TWINE

CR - dreadful film and score, not fussed [I LOVE THE MOVIE AND SCORE, BUT THE ALBUM IS ALREADY VERY GOOD]

QOS - as CR [LIKE THIS SCORE. LOTS OF MUSIC MISSING BUT NOT A PRIORITY AS THE ALBUM IS ALREADY OK]

Skyfall - worst film in the series, even worse score [OK FILM AND SCORE. BUT NO NEED FOR EXPANSION]

Spectre - score might as well not have been written [SCORE IS A REHASH OF SKYFALL. A BIG DISAPOINTEMENT NOT IN NEED OF EXPANSION]

The tapes were found years ago. They're safe and sound and have been backed up.

Anything missing or was it the full score?

Anything missing or was is the full score?

Everything except the Shirley Bassey vocals for the title song. There was an alternate arrangement of the Main Title that opened with a version of the Drax/space station theme, like the End Title version does, except more dramtic sounding.

The music is on 7 reels of 2", 24-track tape.

This is indeed great news. I had heard that the tapes were not actually lost but were in Paris as that is where the score was recorded when Barry was in tax exile. I would much rather the original sessions than a re-recording. (I seem to remember a kickstarter project a few years back that didn't come into fruition) I wonder is there any problem with a label picking these up (LLL anyone?)
