I found the woman in the video very sad and pathetic. She should have lived in the "Leave It To Beaver" times where hubby made lots of money, where she didn't have to work, and where she could vacuum and clean the house each day in a house dress.

Really tired of these drab looking films. Some are hits and some bomb. I really couldn't tell you why.

Yup, that just about sums it up for me.

No surprise. He is a Goth one trick pony who's trick has been seen through. I wonder how he has escaped his reveal for so long. Sincerely wish Hollywood will send his pony to the glue factory. Who knows we might be lucky and all the Goths will follow it and "remain" there too.

How dare women like that exist and offend your "modern" (over)sensitivities! They shouldstarting their own businesses or at least open a poetry club.
Nothing left for you than belittle them whilst waving your "respect ALL women" sign.

I was impressed by her arguments and the fact that she backed them up with abundant evidence.
I found her conclusions perfectly sound, even if I may not necessarily agree with each and every one of them.
(I can't recall exactly which of those they were--I'd have to watch it again to remember.)

When this thread started, I looked up the Dumbo remake and read the synopsis.
Wow, what a trainwreck.
It's incredible that this film got made and more incredible that it made any money (if it in fact did make any money).

Really? A smart, intelligent, educated, well spoken woman and that's your response? I doubt you even watched the video.

The results are always the same, belittle, shame and name call. She couldn't go with the usual personal attacks like chauvinist, sexist and racist so just had to shame her as a woman.

The whole Disney remake trend is a scam.

Did you notice, by the way that the “live action” remake of LADY AND THE TRAMP went directly to cable? They must have realized it’s dreck.

I have not seen a Disney movie in ages.
I pretty much stopped after "The Lion King".

I honestly did not know that things had gotten so bad.
Up until now I was content to be bemused by the controversy without having a deeper understanding of the specifics.
But after watching the above podcast all I can say is, wow, what a gigantic POS the Disney Company has become.

I'll tell you what I did find encouraging, though.
The fact that a contemporary woman can see through the brainwashing BS and tell it like it is.
That was really nice to see.

Oct, her breakdown of B&TB was brilliant too. I knew it was going to be bad, but not THIS bad!

I did watch the video up until the last 3 minutes. Then I quit. I do agree with her and some of you that the last few Disney remakes have not been very good. I was disappointed in some of them.

If you want to blame the "woke" aspects for the remakes not being all that great, that is your right. I don't think seeing a princess wanting equal footing with the prince is the problem. In my opinion, the Disney remakes have lost the sentimental edges or the heart-rendering scenes that were so endearing in the originals. Blame woke if you want to.

Let me ask you this, Joan.
When you were growing up, did you have any problem with old classic Disney movies in the same way that today's generation does?

Fair question. I liked the Disney movies when I was growing up. Of course, that was decades ago and a different world than today. I don't have a problem with the past movies; they reflect the times. However, I don't have a problem with Disney making movies that also reflect current times as long as they make good movies.

We are in complete agreement there.
What I have difficulty understanding is why young folks are getting so triggered by stuff like this.
We loved those movies back then, and we still do.
The ones who are complaining did not live in those times, we did.
You are spot on to say it was a different world.
They have no idea what life was like back then--what kind of adversities we lived through.
The smarter ones can take an educated guess, but that's all it will ever be--a guess.

And now that entire segment of society is telling me that I'm somehow inferior or deficient for growing up in the time that I did and having likes or dislikes that were based on values, upon which they can only imagine living through.
No one should have to defend themselves against such arrogance.

Honestly, I just shake my head.
We are under attack just for being who we are--unenlightened, un-woke savages, I guess.
I'm only 58, for crying out loud! big grin
