Miklos Rozsa in Santa Margherita Ligure Italy, a beautiful place where the Maestro liked to relax and write a lot of his music. When I was 14 years old in 1973, I was lucky to visit there on a trip to Italy with my Dad, Mom and Sister. Fond memories of us all taking a wonderful boatride from Portofino to get there. I remember Dad loved this place and spoke of it with great love and passion. I think he had visited there as a boy and it really made an impression on him. The link will take you to some great photos of Rozsa there as well as some of him in Budapest. Below are a couple of cool photos of the Maestro in Santa Margherita. In the 2nd photo he is wearing some awesome socks. You might say they are a tad "Spellbinding".

Maybe that's why Dr. Rozsa has a frown on his face! smile

I hope 2020 will be the year we will find out if the scores that Mr.Rozsa composed for Universal Pictures still exist. No better way to find out than with a Miklos Rozsa box set. That would be a surprise equal to LLL 's wonderful release of Paramount Westerns box set.

My favourite destination is Italy.

My dad was stationed in Lucca and elsewhere when he was in the allied army after escaping from a Nazi labour camp in what was Yugoslavia. He jumped off a transport train somewhere in northern Italy when it was being strafed by aircraft fire. He spoke positively of Italy so I have always wanted to go there. Living now I the UK has given me that chance.
These pictures have piqued my interest.

That's a very interesting story Michael. I hope your dad lived a long and happy life.

I Remember another great composer who loved Italy so strongly to spent the rest of his life there (here), and he was Willliam Walton. The place is the Ischia Island, near Naples, the location of Siodmak's CRIMSON PIRATE. Here Walton and his wife founded the famous botanical garden called "La Mortella".

I found an old photo of a young 14 year old Zoob with his Mom and Dad in Santa Margherita in 1973.

Dang I was a scrawny little 14 year old. Always got bullied about how young I looked for my age. I finally got over it, almost 50 years later. Ha Ha. But even now I sometimes feel like I just want to go back in time and beat the shit out of a lot of people. Don't laugh to hard. People also always thought my Dad was my Grandfather because he had grey hair starting in his 30's.
