I'd never heard of this Biographical Film about Cole Porter until yesterday, when on a hunch, I streamed it from Prime. I'm guessing the film (may) have not been successful and disappeared, or else it went under my radar when it came out, I was still living in New York so I'm a bit surprised. In any event, I enjoyed this beautifully photographed film, (by Tony Pierce-Roberts who also shot 'A Room With a View'), and I was immersed in the life story of Mr. and Mrs. Cole Porter, (Kevin Kline and Ashley Judd) for two hours. I knew nothing at all about the man except for the songs he'd written and the fact he was Bi-Sexual, with a very decided preference. But the love story here between Judd and Kline is pretty solid and believable. Oh yes, Jonathan Pryce plays a narrator of sorts in the film and he has a big song and dance at the end of the film as well. Anyone else view this film from years back?

Cary Grant did Cole Porter in a movie called Night And Day. (1946) Totally sanitized version of his life, but the musical numbers are nice to watch.

I liked the movie DE-LOVELY. Of course, I love Porter's music. Kline and Judd were fine in their roles. It is a sad love story. This movie also seems to be an honest portrayal of his sexual orientation.

I've watched it several times and always enjoy it.

I saw the film in the theater when it was released and loved it. The $15 million production only grossed $18.6 million world-wide. Both Kline and Judd received Golden Globe nominations. With all those musical artists singing Porter's songs, the soundtrack album was nominated for a Grammy for Best Compilation Soundtrack.
