>swoon<

This can't be true-

The rights clearance must have been a horrorshow (if it's as complete as I hope). And I just don't get good news like this.

I've been happy with the work of our soundtrack labels without asking for more (or much more) than they were already doing for the past two decades or so. But this- this is my holy grail, and I cannot believe it's seeing the light of day.

What's an Intrada?

Someone who makes a flamboyant entrance.
Example: "I'm here, I'm in, tra-da!"

On IMDB page: Music Department
Ray Cooper ... music producer / musician: percussion sequences
George Harrison ... composer: additional music
Trevor Jones ... composer: Greek dance music
Mike Moran ... orchestrator
Harry Rabinowitz ... musical director
Ray Cooper ... composer: additional music (uncredited)

No mention of Trevor Jones on the Intrada cover...I wonder if his dance music will be on this.

Yavar

The extremely brief Jones' source music wasn't on the master. But honestly, you're not missing much.

This suggests the CD could be made from an existing but ultimately unreleased album master.

Nope. This album was built from the ground up. It also doesn’t include the DeWolfe library music used for the game show.

Found it. Apparently the dance music is available here under the track "Bacchanalia". Indeed John Du Prez. Doesn't quite sound like it's the same recording, close though.

Huh. I have that CD.

So you avoided some of the rights clearance horrors.

I was surprised many years ago to read that John Du Prez wrote it (and is a pseudonym for his birthname Trevor Jones)

Actually, I vaguely now remember someone pointing to a youtube link that suggested the dance piece was a pre-existing traditional piece.

John Du Prez (Composer of 'A Fish Called Wanda;, and much Monty Python material) was born 1946 with the given name Trevor Jones in Sheffield, England.

Trevor Jones (composer of 'The Dark Crystal', 'Excalibur' Dark City, and many more) was born in Cape Town, S.A. in 1949.

Despite having the same name, they are not the same person.
Why Du Prez didn't use his stage name on this is a question (whereas other albums credit the track to Du Prez).

I see how my phrasing was confusing. Yes, I am aware they are 2 different composers.

Sorry no , for me it's a very nice surprise , there is no negativity in my answer nor the idea that I would have preferred something else from them, just a hope .

Not familiar with the score.

That's what the mini-podcast (and later sound clips) are for! smile

Thanks, the "orchestra warming up" music isn't my cup of tea. Hopefully it will deliverer on the promise of a symphonic score.

What movie is it for, though? This is getting ridiculous.

Good grief. Nobody has picked up on your clues, Shaun. Let me spell it out for them.

When that image on Facebook disappears at some point in the future, the subject line and the first post of this new topic will be a puzzle nobody should have to solve.

Even with that embedded image working right now, some people are sight-impaired. Do not rely on images to convey essential information. Use a descriptive subject and explicitly mention key things in your post, such as movie titles and artist names.

It’s hard enough to find things on this forum as it is. Please try harder.

Here is Doug’s post over at Intrada.

We already have another CD for release this coming Tuesday (February 11). Time Bandits has at long last become a soundtrack reality. It’s by Mike Moran, boldly symphonic for the time travel storytelling with striking electronic opening and closing sequences. And yes, the CD includes the George Harrison song. When we first launched Intrada back in 1985 with Red Dawn, requests poured in for more releases. This was long before AFM restrictions and Historic Rates policies were in place so the countless soundtrack releases we all enjoy now were just pipe dreams back then. With all those still-unreleased treasures waiting in the vaults, Time Bandits was one of the very first we received requests for and the demand never dissipated. No doubt those famed “Monty Python” creators including Terry Gilliam, John Cleese and Michael Palin are major contributors to the ongoing popularity.

Extremely brief? Uh, it's over 2 minutes and it's a musical (and plot) highlight in the film. Either way, it can be taken from the film and placed the end of Moran's theme that leads up to it to make a near-perfect release. Regardless, nothing but love for Intrada. I didn't expect to ever hear TB in any format and I will be celebrating with the good stuff when it's in my hands!
