There is a fantastic cue in the film (an arrival in a foreign city scene) that is missing from the CD (very lush and John Barry like).

I know exactly the one. Bummer that it was left off the album.

The Elfman today is the guy that wrote 1h and 40 min of unmemorable music for Justice League.

That is not to say he writes bad music, he doesn't. His music just doesn't have the same impact anymore.

His music does have the same impact, depending on the film. Not everyone is Jerry Goldsmith and can turn a shit film into a magic score.

Dr Strange is my favorite Giacchino score ( to be honest a lot of his film work is hit and miss for me, but this one I love ), and one of my favorite Marvel scores.

Elfman - I enjoyed his work on Ultron and even Justice League, but his superhero stuff has never clicked with me. Last year I took all of the superhero type scores of his and traded them in for store credit.

But, keeping an open mind. We'll see.

Elfman plans on using Giacchino's theme.

That's cool with me.
It's a great theme and it would be a shame for it to be tossed.
Bravo Elfman.

I'm sure Elfman will do a great job but I was really rooting for Young to get this one, also because I felt he should've scored the first one based on relationship with Scott Derrickson. And someone of Young's talent deserves these kind of high profile gigs. I dunno, maybe he should get a new agent.

I dunno about a new agent?
The director or producers would probably just want him to emulate that drony, processed/programmed Zimmer style shtick, which would just be a total waste of his talent.
I wish he'd kept on scoring Chinese epics or more full blooded orchestral styled scores from other parts of the globe, where their ears haven't become tin.

I don’t think Raimi or the Marvel people can hear you. Maybe you’re not posting it enough.

Elfman's over halfway through scoring this, so I wouldn't hold your breath.
