This was my second Thomas Newman score purchase ... after the atrocious Erin Brockovich I wasn't tempted until I read some notices, etc. about the film and score. In comparison it's excellent but ... almost instantly forgettable.
I still prefer it to his two JB007 scores ... sorry, that should read: the scores he produced for the last two JB007 films ...
The film was a huge disappointment: it could have been so very good and at times it was interesting but I found myself wishing for something else (I also found the dialogue extremely annoying). Mitch
Didn't see the film. Wanted to, but watched and enjoyed other films released in 2006 set in the '40s-'50s (Good Night and Good Luck, The Good Shepherd).
The main title is a delightful Golden Age homage--it actually put a huge grin on my mug when I heard that opening blast. It's not a sound I would normally associate with this Newman. It's absolute madness that he's never won an Oscar.

If you want to buy good scores from Thomas Newman, you can't go wrong with Shawshank Redemption, Road to Perdition, Meet Joe Black, Little Women, and Cinderella Man
I remember seeing the film years ago and not being too impressed by it. I'd totally forgotten the music, but i love what i'm hearing from the links. I'll definitely check this one out again.
